Hold me while you wait

Tara's POV:

The whole taxi ride to the hospital I sat in silence looking out of the window just praying that Darcey was going to be okay, once the taxi arrived outside the A&E department at the hospital I paid the driver and I got out followed by Charlie and Nick and ran through the entrance into the reception. I made my way over to one of the receptionists and said 'I'm looking for my girlfriend Darcey Olsson she was bought in following a RTC' the receptionist searched on the computer and then looked at me and said 'Ah yes I've found her, If you take a seat in the relatives room just down the corridor I'll get the consultant to come and talk to you'.

Me, Nick and Charlie followed the receptionists directions to the relatives room and sat down on the chairs provided anxiously waiting for news, after a few minutes there was a knock on the door and two men walked in one was probably my mum's age and the other was a little older than us. The older man sat down and said 'The receptionist told us your here to see Miss Darcey Olsson, my names Dylan I'm the consultant assigned to Darcey's care and this is Cam one of our nurses he's working alongside me'. 

I nodded and said 'Nice to meet you, please just tell me is she okay' Dylan cleared his throat and replied 'So we've done and CT scan which shows no damage to the skull or brain, the X-ray however reveals there is a problem with Darcey's spine she needs surgery tonight', I was in too much shock to say anything Charlie looked up and said 'Is it Life threatening Dylan'. Dylan looked at his hands and said 'It's a rare condition it affects everyone differently, but there is a very strong chance that we can repair the damage very easily'. 

Cam sat forwards on his chair and looked at me and very softly said 'Would you like to see her before we take her upstairs to theatre, your friends can come with you for support' I looked at Charlie and Nick who both nodded and we stood up and followed Dylan and Cam through to resus and into one of the side rooms, Dylan gently touched Darcey's shoulder and said 'Darcey you have some visitors to see you'.

Darcey's POV:

I opened my eyes and saw Tara standing in front of the bed, I held my right hand out and said 'Tara your here' Tara quickly walked to the right side of the bed and hugged me gently being careful not to touch any of my injuries she stepped back and said 'I'm so sorry this has happened to you, I'm just glad your okay'. I held Tara's right hand tight and said 'I know I should have told you what happened with my mum last night but you were so excited about tonight I didn't want to upset you', Tara kissed my hand as she said 'I wish you had told me, but that doesn't matter now what matters is you having this operation and recovering from that, we're all here for you and we'll all be there for you to help get you better'.

I saw Nick and Charlie stood near the foot of the bed and smiled and said 'Nick, Charlie can you promise me something, look after Tara for me whilst I'm in hospital' they both nodded and Nick said 'Of course we will Darcey, don't worry about her just concentrate on getting better'. My consultant came back in with my nurse and informed me it was time to take me up to theatre, Tara was able to come up to the theatre ward with me but we told Nick and Charlie to go home as they were both looking tired and I didn't want anything to trigger Charlie from his time in hospital.

Charlie's POV:

Nick's mum kindly came back to the hospital to pick us up, I was worried about Nick though he was so quiet on the way home we were both worried about Darcey and I guessed he was just tired as-well. Once we got home we both went upstairs to get changed out of our Prom Suits and into our warm comfy Pjs after which we went downstairs I went into the kitchen and Nick went into the living room, Sarah poured me mug of hot chocolate and said 'Is Nick okay Charlie' I smiled and said 'Oh yes I think so, I think he's just tired and worried about Darcey we're not sure when we'll hear any news'.
