Three hundred years had passed since the end of the last world war, and I continued to reign, occupied with governing my country and navigating politics. Each day was equally tiresome, occasionally punctuated by battles with Milim. Though she was weaker than I, I would lower my own stats to ensure a fair fight.
One hundred and six years ago, we last clashed, inadvertently destroying two hectares of poisonous medicinal herbs, causing significant damage to the surrounding areas. Cielle reprimanded me, and I began to lose my grip on sanity. Boredom gnawed at me from within, and I fought it with all my might. Eventually, Cielle took over the reins of state, while I struggled to maintain control and preserve my sanity. Perhaps I was already utterly mad, but I strove each day to keep up appearances of normalcy. Only Cielle knew the depths of my madness, and each night, she erased traces of my memories.
Though I had taken the form of a slime, I still remembered the centuries gone by. Cielle upheld my sanity, and I no longer recalled who I was before becoming the demon lord. When asked about my past identity, Cielle would simply answer, "Satoru Mikami," showing me glimpses of my former life. I longed to regain my memories, but... I didn't understand why it was impossible for Cielle.
Today, however, I had a meeting with representatives of a new country.
"Gentlemen, good day," Diablo greeted the guests. I sat upon the ebony throne, observing as two gentlemen bowed before me. I raised my gaze to meet theirs.
"Let us get to the heart of the matter; I tire of your false pleasantries," I wished to say, but Cielle promptly commanded me, silently, to the relaxation chamber.
(The abyssal dimension)
I obediently rose and departed, leaving the assembly bewildered. In the dimly lit room, Shuna sat beside me, while I reclined in her lap. I had bestowed upon my closest aides immortality and strength. This sanctuary, created by Cielle for the purpose of healing my mind in dire circumstances, was my salvation. Shuna and her attendants aided in this endeavor.
"Lord Rimuru, what news do you bring?" Shuna inquired, and I responded telepathically, "Nothing new, I'm afraid; matters only worsen with each passing day."
