The light clicking of heels echoed throughout the ship's interior as a woman with light caramel-coloured locks made her way to the scullery, intent on browsing job offers. Upon reaching the kitchen, she poured herself a glass of wine and prepared a small meal, settling in to peruse the listings. One job in particular caught her eye; it was a high-level assignment. A male religious practitioner was wanted for swindling money from unsuspecting victims and causing havoc.
Looking at the price for bringing him in alive, she assumed it was a scam given how high the reward was. Putting her drink down, she appeared to be debating whether to take the job. Suddenly, she felt a hand on her shoulder. Following the hand, she saw it was the captain and sniper of the ship. Seeing his interest in the flyer, she tilted it to give him a better view.
"Should we take it?" she asked, her emerald-like eyes hinting at her curiosity.
"Da, we should, Passion," the sniper replied.
Passion nodded. "I'll message to find out what planet the hirer is on and give you the destination, Makar," she explained with a smirk.
"Alright," Makar said, heading off.
Watching him walk away, she finished her drink and meal before messaging the hirer to arrange a meeting. She asked for details and the location where they should meet. Receiving a quick response, she read the details and hurried to find Makar. She found him on the bridge of the ship, looking at star docks.
"Found the location," Passion said, stating where it was.
"Good, we aren't far from that district," Makar replied.
Nodding, she headed off as Makar navigated the inky abyss of space to their destination. In her quarters, she prepared her blades, glancing at her wardrobe and laughing at the thought of her usual outfits being less than appropriate for a church. She chose a semi-modest dress, a red, off-the-shoulders number, and slipped it on. She let her hair down and selected light green heels to complete the look.
After brushing out some tangles in her hair, she heard a knock on the door. Looking up, she saw Makar standing there, his arms crossed as he leaned against the wall.
"How long have you been standing there?" Passion asked, slightly alarmed, having not heard his approach.
Chuckling, Makar shrugged. "I've been here for a few minutes. Already eager to swoon the target?" he teased.
"Oh, shush. Nothing wrong with getting ready," Passion replied, rolling her eyes.
Rolling his eyes in response, he informed her they'd be arriving at their destination within five to six minutes and to be ready. He then walked off. Passion grabbed her blades, hiding them under her dress on her thigh, before leaving her room to talk to the others on the ship. She found a woman with dark skin playing with a child, keeping them occupied while their father slept—or tried to. Kneeling to the child's height, she tousled their hair.
"Hey, Passion," the woman said.
"Hey, Tazanna. Xedrin hasn't been too much of a hassle, has he?" Passion asked, pulling the child into a hug.
"He's been well-behaved for me, Passion," Tazanna replied.
Nodding, Passion kissed the top of Xedrin's forehead and stood up, smoothing out her dress. She headed off to the cargo dock, where Makar was waiting for her. The cargo dock opened as they landed in the starport. Stepping off the platform, Passion took in the lush vegetation in the near distance, the nearby buildings, and the throngs of people moving to and fro.
Makar followed closely, both to keep her safe and to let her lead the way to their meeting with the hirer. His platinum blonde hair, brushed up, lightly swayed in the breeze. Soon, they reached their destination, and Makar firmly knocked on the door. A man answered, his honey-coloured eyes lingering on Passion before he stepped aside to let them in after confirming their identities.
