This book explores something very difficult.
Cancer.
While this book is fiction, I did my best to learn about pancreatic cancer. However, some details may not be fully accurate since this is just a made-up story. Cancer however, is an awful disease, but very real.
My goal was to explore the heavy emotions and questions someone would have when told they don't have long to live, especially as a young person. How do you find strength? What makes life precious?
It wasn't easy writing Elizabeth's story. But I hope readers connect with her as deeply as I did. Writing this book has comforted me about my own fears. It showed me that even when things are at its darkest, we all have an inner light that can shine through.
Here is a quote that inspired me:
"It is better to light a candle than curse the darkness." - Eleanor Roosevelt.
We all have the courage to let our own lights shine, even in the hardest times.
