Lanteveldt x Non-binary H Reader Pt 1

"Hey, I packed the last of our things. And Sariphi said she would be waiting to see us off with his majesty."

  Y/N stood looking out the window not paying attention to what Lante was saying. Lante sighed and stood behind them. "You okay?" "Yeah, I'm sorry. I was getting lost in thought again." "About your family?" Y/N nodded, "it's been almost a year since I came out here. I never thought that I would have a home here in the beast realm."

"Your home is here, in the castle, with us." "I know. And I wouldn't have it any other way. I just hope this will be the last time I see them," Y/N frowned. Lante hugged them and kissed them on the head, "we don't have to go if you don't want to."

"I have to go, I'm one of the Creston children, it's still my duty to be there for the reading of my grandfather's will. All members of the family have to be there to see who's getting what from my grandfather's fortune. Whether I want to be there or not." Lante frowned at the response and his ears dropped, Y/N laughed and kissed him on the tip of his nose. "Don't worry, it's just three days and I doubt I'm getting any of it."

"You never know, but I'm still going to make sure your family doesn't step out of line. If they start anything with you-" "Lante, I know you never liked my family all that much-" "At all," Lante muttered. "But! I can handle it. I've dealt with their criticisms and insults my whole life, I can deal with the blows for a few days, can you?" Lante sighed in defeat and nodded in agreement. "Heh, thank you." "Still, if it gets to be too much for you we're leaving, that's it."

"Yes, Captain!" "I mean it Y/N. I won't have them disrespecting you in front of me." "Okay, okay. If things do go off the rails we'll leave immediately. Deal?" "Deal."

  *Knock, knock* "Captain Lanteveldt, sir, the carriage is waiting," said the servant outside the door. "You ready to go, or do you need a minute?" "Hold on." Y/N, closing their eyes bounced their head playfully side to side. Lante was confused at this, "Okay, now I'm ready." Shaking his head with laughter, Lante hugged them tight. "You dork." "He he he!" They're heads nuzzled together and they grabbed the bag's and headed to the court yard. There Sariphi, Leonhart, Amit, Jormungand, Anubis, Cy and Clops waited for them.

"Sorry to keep you all waiting." "That's alright, we're just glad we could make it to see you off." "Thank you Amit. We'll only be gone a few day's, we'll be back before you know it." "And we'll be here to greet you when you come home." Sariphi smiled, she and Y/N shared a hug. "I wish you both a safe journey." "Thank you Sariphi."

"Lante, be sure to be on your guard on your way and when you leave the estate. There have been reports of more bandit activities beyond the border." Lante nodded, "I know, I'd sent some scouts to clear the way ahead two days ago and before the sun came up. There wasn't much out there for them to report. But I plan to stay on guard, especially around that so called "family" of theirs," he said watching Y/N hug Amit goodbye.

  "You really think anything good will come from this?" Jormungand asked, Lante sighed as he shook his head, "I don't know. Y/N said that they never got along with their family. That they never accepted Y/N for who they are, and for them to suddenly request they're presence for a will reading? Y/N doubts that they're getting anything out of this besides their family taking shot's at their ego."

"Y/N is strong-willed and stubborn for as long as I've known them. I trust them that they can handle themselves but, it's their family that I don't trust."

"For now, all you can do is support them and their decision." Lante looked once more at Y/N as they laughed hugging Cy and Clops. This made him smile, "alright Captain, you win, again I guess." Jormungand chuckled under his breath. Lante said his goodbyes as well, until Sariphi pulled him aside.

"Be safe and please don't get carried away while you're on the road." "Carried away?" "You know what I'm talking about, the sand serpent incident on the day we met. I don't want to hear anything like that happening while you're on the road."

"Alright, alright I'll take it easy-Oof!" Lante was interrupted by Sariphi hugging him. "Look after Y/N and yourself, I asked the servants to pack you extra food for your journey. And Lante, as the Queen of Beast's, I'm ordering you to protect Y/N while you're at that estate no matter what. But most of all, I'm ordering both of you to come back home safely, please." Lante hugged her back, "You have my word, Lady Sariphi."

They departed, and Y/N looked out the carriage as they went through the market place. "You think there's actually anything your grandfather left you?"

"I don't know. I mean, grandpa Henrick was a very sophisticated man and at first glance he was rather intimidating to his peers. But he was actually a very kind man. No matter how wealthy he was he never let his greed corrupt him." "Guess your family's a different story."

"Yeah I guess so, growing up all my parents would talk about was his fortune and how they would inherit it someday, and how soon me and my siblings would inherit small portions of it as well." "But?" "My parents got more greedy as my grandfathers fortune continued to grow."

"Then soon enough, my brother and sister became obsessed with his fortune." Lante got up and switched seats and sat next to Y/N putting his arm around them. Y/N leaned into his embrace and held Lante's free hand. "When I told them who I was they all looked at me with this...repulsive stare. As if I had destroyed their lives. And my parents began to question where they went wrong with me."

Tear's formed in their eyes and Y/N wiped them away, *sniff* "I know I shouldn't act like this, I mean, it's their loss for missing out on my life but... Their my parents, they're supposed to support and love me. No matter what!" Y/N cried into Lante's chest, he held the back of their head and held Y/N close to him. "Shhh, it's okay, it's okay. You're right it is their loss. Because they missed seeing you head out for the beast realm, they missed seeing you move into the castle, and they missed seeing how much you've grown and how stronger you are."

Y/N pulled away and nodded in agreement and with that Lante smiled. "You know what else they're going to miss?" He asked cupping their face in his hands. Y/N looked up at him and shook their head Lante wiped away a tear, "They're going to miss seeing you live your life however you want with a family of your own, that you started, here, in the realm of beast's."

  Y/N smiled and kissed Lante. Lante pulled them back in for another kiss with a little more passion this time, running his fingers through their hair Lante grunted into the kiss. They ended the kiss smiling at one another. "I love you."

  "I love you too, Y/N."
