"Your goal is simple: undertake rescue exercises and save the bystanders who are trapped in these disaster sites," Mera says the TV continues to pan over the mass amount of destruction.
—"Save the what now?" Kaminari and Mineta ask at the same time.
"Bystanders. We learned about them in class, remember? They're people at a disaster scene," Hagakure tells them.
"It can also simply refer to innocent citizens on the street," Momo adds.
"It's really not an unfamiliar term, guys," I mutter.
"Hey, now, no need to be mean!" Kaminari whines.
"Use this time to show us how you will carry out successful rescue procedures once you receive your provisional licenses. Treat this as though it were the real thing," Mera says.
Izukun sighs. "Rescuing."
"On the screen," Shoji says, bringing our attention closer to what is occurring.
Sato gasps. "Little kids and old people?"
"That's so dangerous—why're they here?" Mineta asks astounded.
"These specialists have been trained as professional line: 'persons in need of rescue.' They're very popular. Introducing the 'Help Us Company," also known as HUC for short," Mera explains.
"So, they're basically actors, I guess?" Sero says.
"It's the kind of job you never think about," Tsu points out.
"But a necessary one in our world, since they support our hero training," Ojiro says to them.
"The HUC bystanders have dressed up like injured victims and will be located throughout the disaster site. We'll be judging how well you keep them safe as you go about your mission. Oh, by the way. We'll be scoring you on a point system. If you have more points than the benchmark at the time the exercise comes to an end, then you pass the exam. We'll start in ten minutes. Take care of any necessary preparations now," Mera says.
"This looks familiar," Iida says as he walks closer to Izukun.
Izukun nods. "It's like Kamino Ward. I wonder if they based it off that."
"It's true that the situations are similar. But our only goal then was to rescue Bakugo from the villains. We let the pros handle search and recovery. And you'll recall, there were many casualties," Iida says.
"Not this time."
As the next stage explanation draws to a close and we are waiting for it to begin, I notice Sero go over to where Kaminari and Mineta are sitting. I assume it's to discuss pervy topics, so I tune them out and focus on meditating to essentially reset my Quirk, but it is soon interrupted by screaming.
