Blairwood County Police Department

"Thank you for your time and cooperation Mr. Ellis. Everything checks out on our end.
You're free to go" The officer extended his hand for Devale to shake. "No problem. We have children together so I'm here to help when I can" he said, shaking the man's hand.

Turns out, Kay was indeed declared a missing person. Devale would be lying if he said he wasn't worried because for the boys sake, he was but the news of Felicia never being hurt in that accident Kay came crying to him about rubbed him wrong. She was so upset and heavily adamant about taking the boys to the hospital. All the signs were there that something was going on but it didn't concern his kids so it didn't concern him.

Devale checked his phone as he pushed the glass door open, taking a moment to look up when he sensed the presence of another person. The wind blew in that same moment and his nostrils were over taken by the scent of his love. "Oh, my bad— Crystal?" his eyes squinted when they landed on her. "Baby what are you doing here?" he asked, stepping out the door and letting it close behind him. He grabbed Crystal's hand, guiding her by the hip to the sidewalk, hidden behind some tall bushes.

"I'm here for you. What's going on?" she asked in concern. She knew he would be thrown off by her presence here especially after telling Tae not to tell anybody other than their mother.

"Nothing. They just wanted to question me to clear my name"

"So she's actually missing? Like for real?" Crystal asked. She watched him nod with a softened expression. "Yeah, guess so..I don't know what Im going to tell the boys" he sighed, staring off behind Crystal for a while before he looked down at her. "But I'll figure it out" he says, offering the best smile he could.

"Well just hold off on it okay? Maybe don't say anything until they start asking? I don't know Devale"

"Yeah that's probably gonna be best. I gotta call mama real quick, let her know everything" he said, reaching for Crystal's hand but she wouldn't give it to him. She quickly shook her head "I just need to step inside for a minute" she mumbled, confusing Devale.

"For what? It smell like stale cheetos and coffee if it had an ass in there. I'm ready to go" she sighed at the irritation in his voice. Of course he wouldn't be questioned long enough for her run and out before he saw her. She timed this so wrong.

"And you can. We didn't ride together. I drove." Taken back by her tone, Devale twisted his face and shoved his phone into his pocket. He looked her up and down, his forehead heavily creased. "Nah, I'm not leaving unless I'm following you to wherever you wanna go. What do you need to go in the police station for?"

"Uh, I gotta pee!" Crystal quickly spit out the first thing that came to mind without thinking about it first. But regretted it as soon as it left her mouth.

"Why you wanna lie like that Crys? You don't even use public restrooms unless you been drinking and it's an emergency. You been drinking Renee?"

"No, Ellis. I haven't been drinking and this is an emergency. It won't even take long, 15 maybe 20 minutes.. maybe"

"Okay but what are you going in there for? What you ain't telling me Crystal? Why you hiding shit from me?" his voice was light and sweet when he asked her the questions he did. It was almost as if it hurt his feelings to even think she would keep something like this from him.

"No..Nothing..I'm not, I—" her lips collided into each other and she nibbled on the bottom
one, trying to find a way out of the circle Devale talked her in. He was always so good at that. "I'll tell you when I come out okay? Last thing we need is you knocking shit off these peoples wall. Go wait in the car for me. I'm coming"
