A/n: Welcome back bitches (meant in a friendly way)😁

A lot can happen in five years.
People come and go, college can be finished, people get married and have babies.
New relationships can happen and old feelings can vanish.Or they don't and become a persistent part in the back of your mind, reminding you every once in a while what could have been. They make it hard to form new romantic relationships, always lingering there, always remind you of the same person.
Five years is way too long to still think about what could have been but sometimes when the night creeps around, those thoughts come back. It doesn't hurt anymore, it's just there and I don't know what to do with it.
"I got to get blinds for those windows." I say, pointing my computer screen toward the windows in my small living room.
Well, not quite a living room, it still needs to be lived in but there is a couch in there and a shelf for books."Why?" Yelena asks, her eyebrows furrowed when I tilt the screen back into my direction.
"The sun shines in here at noon and heats up the whole room, which isn't what I want." I explain.
With the heat we currently have, I definitely don't need this room to heat up during the day. My bedroom already got blinds, which I am glad about. Waking up as soon as the sun rises would be no fun in the middle of August."Fair enough. If I am correct, my living room window will be directed north then?" Yelena asks and I nod.
She still has to wait before she can move. There was a delay with the handover of the apartment.
Apparently, the previous renter left it messy and dirty. There had to be a cleaning service hired and a painter since the walls were in a bright yellow. All that pushed Yelena's move in date back. I hoped we could move in at the same time and have movie nights after a long day of unpacking but it's fine. She'll fly over here once she can move into the apartment.
Until then, we will have to work with videochats. We were lucky to have found apartments right next to each other, or rather, across the hall.Staying together in one apartment during college was fun and really great but now that we're both starting new jobs and need more space, we decided to rent separate apartments. It'll help us to go to bed earlier too.
The last few weeks of college we got into the horrible habit of watching reality TV shows until late at night and were tired almost every morning.Sleeping in separate apartments might help to fix that sleeping schedule. I am already going to bed earlier, mainly because I am exhausted after each day.
"I will be, you'll just have to see about your kitchen and bedroom then." I agree, carrying her with me into my bedroom.
The couch in the living room would be more comfortable but there are still so many boxes to unpack on top of it. Sitting down would require me to put them away or unpack them.
Yelena narrows her eyes and looks at the screen of her laptop."Are you still sleeping on the ground?" She asks. I sigh, flopping down onto my matrass. It's comfortable but not as comfortable as it would be with a bed frame.
"What do you mean by still? I moved in here three days ago." I protest, crossing my legs and placing the laptop on them.
Those past three days were very busy, buying a bedframe wasn't high enough in my priority list so far. I had too many other things to do. I had to get an appointment to get registered, then go to that appointment, had to discuss internet and gas and light and water, had a meeting with HR about my new job starting Monday and had to take care of my broken fridge.
