"Come here, Luna." My daddy said while holding a present in his hands.
Daddy and I were polar opposites, while he was a big, tan, blonde man with eyes blue like the sky, I was a little girl with pitch black hair and eyes that shone brightly like the sun.

"No." I pouted. "I want the gift first."
Daddy always brought me something special every time he came back from his travels, but this time it was going to be even more special since it was my birthday.

"If you want it, you have to pay for it." He gestured to his cheek. "Give me a kiss."
I obeyed.

"Can I have it now?" I asked.

"Yes, my Little Moon." He smiled at me.

I opened the gift and inside I found another box.
I looked at my daddy suspiciously.

"I promise you're not going to be disappointed." My daddy rolled his eyes. "Just open it."

So I did, and inside I found a necklace with two pendants, a sun and a crescent moon.

"Is this us, daddy?" I asked curiously while handing him the necklace so he could tie it around my neck.

"Yes, that's right." He nodded in agreement. "Now try tapping them a couple times."

I tapped both the sun and the moon and suddenly they were no longer on the necklace, I had a short sword in my left hand and a long sword in my right one.

"Daddy, what are these?" I asked him.

"These are your weapons, they belonged to a friend of mine – well, not exactly a friend – anyway, she wanted you to have these." He laughed. "The short one is called a dagger, and the long one is a xiphos, you can think about it like a standard issue Ancient Greek sword."

I looked at them with eyes full of wonder. They were both gold, but the short one had more of a blue hue.
They were both heavily decorated, with the dagger having a moon engraved on the handle and the xiphos a sun. "Do they have names?"

"Pharmakos." He simply said.

"Poison and cure. That word means both." I tapped my swords and they turned back into pendants.
"This one is poison and this one is cure, right?" I said while pointing first to the moon and then to the sun.

"That's right."

Daddy had told me all about my heritage, he said I was a half-blood, but I couldn't tell that to anyone because it was dangerous.
The only people I could tell were the nice ladies in the trees that called themselves dryads, since daddy said they wouldn't hurt me.
I spent most of my time with them, since daddy only came by during the weekend.
They were like nannies, not that I needed one, I was very mature.
They looked after me, fed me and sang me lullabies when I couldn't sleep.
Daddy also told me he didn't know who my mommy was, since the gods could change their appearance and she never told him who she was.

"When can we leave here daddy?" I asked for the umpteenth time. "You promised we could go see the cities that saw on the TV soon."

"And soon you will." He patted my head.

"Soon we will, right?" I looked at him worriedly.

"Right." He reassured me with a face that made me wonder if he was telling the truth. "Come on, Little Moon, it's time to go to bed."

"But you've just arrived." I protested.

"And that why the dryads have let you stay up past your bedtime."

"But daddy-" I was cut off.

"No buts, I'll tell you two stories before you fall asleep." He continued.

"A story? Not a lullaby, I like when daddy sings." I spoke.

"These are very important stories, they're about a little girl just like you, my Little Moon."

"Another half-blood?"

"Yes."

"When did these stories happen? In Ancient Greece times?" I wondered.

"No, these are special stories." He explained. "They have yet to happen."

"Like prophecies?" I asked.

"Exactly, but not just like prophecies, they are prophecies." My daddy applauded me.

"And I get to hear them?" I was ecstatic. "Don't only special people get to hear prophecies?"

"Which is exactly why you get to hear them, you're the most special girl in the world." He tickled me. "But only on the condition that you run to your room and tuck yourself into your bed. I'll join you in five minutes. I promise."

"Okay." I was sad I didn't get to hear it immediately, but I got to bed anyway.
After five minutes passed, I got up again to tell daddy he was late, but he was nowhere to be found, instead on the ground I found a note, which took me a while to decipher because of my dyslexia.

When darkness falls and shadows rise,
A raven's heart shall face the skies.
Betrayal's path and loyalty's test,
Will force the raven from her nest.

To claim revenge or shun the night,
The fate of gods lies in her flight.
In water's grasp, she'll find her choice,
Olympus could be saved by raven's voice

Once I turned the note over, I found it had things written there too.

In twilight's hour, a choice shall be made,
By the daughter of shadow, her allegiance swayed.
Through trials of fire and ocean's embrace,
Her heart's true path she must embrace.
To shatter darkness or bind the light,
The fate of Olympus hinges on her fight.
Two roads diverge in the midst of war,
One brings vengeance, the other restores.

Were those the stories daddy wanted to tell me?
Did he want me to find out who this girl was? But the first prophecy wasn't even talking about a girl, it was talking about a raven.

"Well, who are you little girl?" Said a woman that looked to be made of the night itself.
She scanned all my body before she looked into my eyes and seemed to recognise them.

"How did you get in?" I stared at her frozen in fear. "If you don't leave right now I'm going to call my daddy."

"We both know there is no one in this house." She grinned. "What is your name?"

"Luna." I admitted. "Luna Corvo."

"I see he kept the name I gave you, but what an interesting last name. What's your father's name?"

"Delian Corvo." I told her hoping she'd go away.

To that she laughed.
She wasn't scary, at least not to me, but I had to go find daddy and I couldn't if she didn't leave.
What was scary to me was the fact that I felt safe around her, like the shadows around me resonated with hers.

"You already have an idea about who I am, don't you?" she looked at me with eyes that mirrored mine

"You're my mom." I spoke quietly.

"Yes, I am, my Little Moon." She caressed my cheek. "I am Nyx."

"Is your mission clear, Luna?" Luke Castellan looked at me.

"Yes." I nodded.

"You know what happens should you fail me." He grinned.
He fucking grinned.
Psychopath.

"I do." I winced.
I was going to get back at the gods, no matter what.

"Then go." He continued.

With that said, I blended into the shadows and ordered them to bring me to my destination, Westover Hall.
Game on.
