"I never desired such a detestable design!" A visage of vexation overtook my face as I flung the paper file onto the glass table before me. The manager and some senior staff stood opposite me, heads bowed and hands clenched in front of them.
"I'm saying I never asked for such rubbish. Who designed this... Has our company become so devoid of designers that we must resort to imitating another company?" My shout made the four standing individuals shrink further, the entire office deathly silent. No one dared to speak.
"Perhaps I asked you for permission to create this design, did I not?"
"Madam, your father granted the permission, so we had to make it," the manager said with a trembling voice.
"What does it matter if my father gave permission? I could have been consulted too; after all, I am the vice president of this company."
"But he is the CEO, so his permission was crucial for us. We apologize; we should have informed you first-" Before he could finish, I slammed my hand on the desk and left the office quietly, leaving the four behind.
A fierce anger was brewing inside me, a resentment that my father still didn't deem me competent enough, even though I am the president of this company, next in line after him. Yet, he never felt the need to consult me, even though I am his daughter. I wasn't even aware that he was planning to launch such a design.
Standing in front of my father's cabin, clearly marked CEO in silver palate, I gritted my teeth in irritation, fists clenched, yet I slowly opened the door where my esteemed father was working, pretending as if nothing of this sort was happening on this side.
Hearing the sound of the sliding glass, he looked up from his laptop at me. Although I am his daughter, I don't necessarily need permission to enter. So, without saying anything, he allowed me to come in, and I stood opposite his desk, resting my palms on it.
"What's the matter?" he inquired in a casual tone, shutting down his laptop.
"Dad, you didn't inform me beforehand about this $50,000 deal you're entering. And how could you grant permission for a design that another company has already executed? It's a mere imitation."
"Oh, it was a trivial matter; that's why I didn't bother telling you," he replied dismissively, to which I stared at him incredulously. My anger now dissolved into astonishment, and I gazed blankly at the man sitting leisurely before me.
"To you, $50,000 seems insignificant, equating to 68,335,000 South Korean won. Do you consider these millions trivial? Have you lost your mind? Moreover, you're launching it and sending our manager to complete the day's work. Have you gone mad, Dad?"
