I woke up next to a snoring Siva. I didn’t remember much of last night but I was glad I was with him. I walked downstairs to find his mum making breakfast. She greeted me cheerfully then told me that she had given the house key to the company that was selling my house. Then she told me the funeral place had phoned and that my mum’s funeral was tomorrow.
I thanked him mum then went upstairs to find him lying in bed wide awake. The funeral tomorrow was all I could say. I sat down next to him as he wrapped his arms around me. He then began to sing gold forever to me. He sang it to me and my mum when she first got diagnosed with cancer. It made me smile.

This made my heart melt, I have had a crush on Siva since secondary school but I dare tell him. When he finished singing he told me that he will stay with me and that we will go to the funeral together. The rest of our day was spent in the old tree house we had built when we were younger.
“oh my god, remember when you went out with Lucy when we were in year 6” I said tracing my finger round a carved out heart with Siva and Lucy 4eva in the middle.
“She was so annoying I only said yes because she wouldn’t stop asking me out” he said laughing.
“What did this mean” he said running his finger over a heart with H loves S that I had carved out when we first started secondary school.
“Oh some guy” I said trying not to give the fact that it was him away.
Once it got to 10pm we got down from the tree house to have dinner, and then go to bed. After eating dinner we both climbed into his bed and began to talk about how immature we are for sitting in a tree house even when we are 24 years old.
“Night seev” I said getting comfy.
“Goodnight beautiful” he said pulling me up against his chest.
I began to drift off to sleep but I couldn’t stop thinking about how he said ‘goodnight beautiful’ he always called me beautiful but this time it felt so much more different. Like he actually meant it.
