I woke up out of breath, I was trembling and I was sweating through my clothes. My sister ran in the room, and hugged me. With how scared she looked, I probably woke up with a loud gasp like I mostly do when I have nightmares.
"Hey, it's okay. I'm here." She said as she stroked my hair softly. From what I could tell, it was early in the morning and she was getting ready for work. She sat on my bed and continued to stroke my hair as I laid my head in her lap. I was still a bit shaken from my dream.
Her bright hazel eyes looked down at me in pure concern. "Was it the same dream as last time?"
"No." I said softly.
"Was it a different one?"
"Yeah." I was only giving short answers. I don't know why, I just didn't feel like talking.
"Was it the one when mom and dad died?"
"No."
"Was it the one where you were taken away again. Because I told you that I'm never going to let that happen again."
"It's not that one."
"Oh." She thought for a moment, she seemed to be deep in thought. "Wait, was it the one where you were trapped in that weird darkness, and...I..."
"Yeah, that's the one."
She looked upset, and kissed my forehead. "Listen little bro, most of these bad dreams have already happened and most of them are things that aren't going to happen ever.
I sat up. "What if they come true Leah, what if...!"
"Daniel!" She snapped. She kind of scared me when she yelled. "None of that will happen. Your nightmares are all in your imagination, okay? I hate yelling at you. I didn't mean to snap like that, but—"
I laid back down. "It's fine."
She looked down at me, I could tell she was hurt even though the hall light was on, and my room light was off, I could kind of see the hurt look on her face. She kissed my forehead again and I sat up so she could stand up. "I have to go to work, I know you're more than capable of getting on the bus."
I sighed. I wanted to go back to sleep due to my bus coming at 7:45 am, so I should be fine. I looked at my watch and saw that it was 5:40, I had an hour and five minutes. I looked at Leah as she pulled a piece of hair out of her face.
"I love you, Daniel." She said before she walked out of my room.
"I love you too, sis." I say as I watch her leave the room. The lights went off and I heard her car engine start. She left and wouldn't come back until 2:30, 30 minutes before I got home.
After some time, it was my turn to get ready for today. I got up, got dressed, packed all my things, and walked out to the bus stop.
I got on the bus and made my way to school, as I walked into the school building, but then I heard a sinister voice calling my name. I had an idea who it could be due to how mad I made him yesterday.
"Oi, jerk! I still have a bone to pick with you after the crap you pulled yesterday." The voice said, a chill ran down my spine and I continued walking but I felt a tug on my backpack. "You didn't think I'd let you get away that easily."
I wanted to escape. The fact that he was holding my backpack I could have just slipped out the straps and ran for my life, right? I didn't do that. Unfortunately, that did not come to mind. "Just leave me alone." I said as I tried to move my bag out of his grasp.
"You think I'd just let you go after you ratted me out yesterday."
"It's not ratting you out if I wasn't a part of it and I was just answering a simple question. Ms. Alan asked who did it, and I just answered. Maybe next time, think before putting a whoopie cushion in her chair, and you didn't even get a bad punishment for it. You just got detention." I could tell that pissed him off.
He pulled me back by the strap of my bag, turned me around and grabbed my shirt, his eyes filled with rage. "Don't you know how many times I got detention. My parents are going to take away my PlayStation." He said as he continued to grab the collar of shirt.
"That sounds like a you problem." I said.
"That's very funny, let's see how you like it." And with that he raised his fist. A teacher noticed what was happening and stopped him before he could pound my face in. The teacher gave him more detention, and he was livid. He looked dead at me "I'll see you outside." And with that he put me down and went to his class.
Now look; I am about to get my butt kicked by Jacob. God, could this day get more eventful.
The rest of the day went on fine, but I felt like a dozen butterflies were doing somersaults in my stomach. At the end of the day I thought that I would be able to avoid Jacob and get on my bus with no troubles. But that wasn't going to happen.
He caught up to me and placed his hand on my shoulder "Well, hello there, pal. You seem to be in a hurry." I turned my head slowly. I looked him dead in the eyes and could tell that murder was on his mind.
He swung me around so that we were face to face. He had a sinister smirk on his face, and he clenched his fist. "You're going to pay." He raised his fist, and I threw my hands in my face to block the punch. His fist made contact with my hands, and something seemed off about this. My hands started glowing and with how hard he was going to punch me, the light from my hand turned into a blast and he was blasted back into the water fountain.
A teacher saw this and walked over to Jacob who was in pain as he laid on the ground. His head was bleeding out in the back. Other students looked at me, they were terrified. But other students that didn't see what took place, assumed that I had pushed him and when word got back to the teacher I was suspended for 5 days for starting a fight and harming another student. I didn't go on the bus, I just walked home and it was a pretty long walk. I know Leah would be very upset with me when she hears I got into a fight. Even though I just touched him and he went flying backyards, what was that anyway?
