It was early in the morning and I heard the car engine, Leah was getting ready to go to work. The sound of the car engine had gotten quieter, meaning that Leah had already left. When the noise was completely silent I started to hear a new sound. It sounded like...crying.
I got out of my bed and started to make my way down the hallway, I could hear where the crying was coming from. It was from Leo's room.
It walked in his room and I saw Leo, in his bed hyperventilating while tears were streaming down his face. This made me remember nights when I was younger: Dad or mom or even both would go into Leo's room to calm him down whenever he had a panic attack.
I walked up to his bed and sat on the side while I looked down at him. "Hey buddy, it's okay." I said as I laid my hand on his head and slowly started to stroke his hand. "I'm here. I'm right here."
He was still in this state of panic and I was just trying my best to calm him down. I never had to calm anyone down, I always watched people do it. I wished Leah was here, she would know what to do in a situation like this.
"You want to talk about what's going on." I said.
He shook his head. At this rate I didn't know what to say or do, the only thing I could do right now was stay by his side until he had calmed down.
As I sat on the side of Leo's bed, I could hear now heavy he was breathing. I looked down at him and continued to stroke his hair. "I'm right here, okay?" I said. "I'm going to stay right here until you calm down, okay?"
He nodded and I could see that he was trying to calm himself down, his breathing started to slow down and finally stopped crying. But even though he stopped crying, tears stopped falling from his eyes.
He finally calmed down but by that time; he had cried himself to sleep. My job here was done, and with that I had left out of his room to let him sleep.
It was 10:30am, and I had started to make myself breakfast. I grabbed a bowl, I then noticed Leo walking down the stairs and he looked like a complete mess. His hair was messing, he looked very drowsy, and his glasses were crooked.
"Dude, you look horrible." I said as I grabbed a box of Cinnamon Toast Crunch from the top shelf of the pantry.
"I had a rough night and a nightmare, cut me some slack." He said as he (finally) adjusted his glasses.
"You could at least have done something with your hair."
"Can you not comment on how I look, I just woke up."
I rolled my eyes at that comment, then sighed. "Are you doing better from this morning?"
"Huh? What are you talking about?"
"Do you not remember what happened this morning?"
"Dummy, it is morning. Did you hit your head or something? Are you feeling okay?"
I just looked at him as I stood there completely confused. Did he not remember what happened? "Did you hit your head? Yes, I know it's morning time, but it was early this morning. Leah left and I heard you crying from your room. I walked in and you were having a..."
"Panic attack." he finished my sentence. "So, it was you in my room."
"Well, no stuff Sherlock. Who else did you think was there? The tooth fairy?"
"Dude, what the heck? I'm not five years old. It's just that, when you came in the room to calm me down, I thought that was dad."
I laughed softly. "And why's that, huh?"
"I don't know, I just did." he said with an embarrassed tone. "And to answer your question: yes, I'm doing better."
"Great to know, big bro." I put down the cereal box and grabbed the jug of milk from the refrigerator. But as I went to pick it up I accidentally dropped the jug and right before it hit the ground, it started to levitate.
I stood there in shock then turned my head to Leo who had his hand out, extending it to the direction the jug was. He then moved the jug closer to me. "Don't just stand there, take the milk." I heard him say.
I snapped out of it and grabbed the milk. "How did you..."
"You'll learn that soon, little bro." He said as he walked up to me and ruffled my hair.
I then remembered our talk from yesterday. "Wait, when are we going to start training?"
"Whenever you're ready." He grabbed the box of cereal and started to look around in the cabinets.
"Oh, the bowls are in the..."
"Second cabinet away from the refrigerator and for the first cabinet, that's where the plates and cups are. Wow, Anna is so basic."
"One, how do you know that...wait, I'm not even going to ask. And two, Anna, is that a new nickname for Leah?"
"It's been my nickname for Leah, I just got more comfortable with saying Leah, but from time to time, I might call her Anna." He grabbed a bowl and poured the cereal into it. He looked at me and pointed to the jug of milk that was in my hand. "You done kiddo?"
I looked down and noticed that I haven't even poured the milk yet. "Oh, right." I quickly poured the milk into the bowl of cereal then passed it to Leo. "Sorry."
"It's alright kid. Anyway, before you start crying yesterday. You weren't done explaining what happened yesterday, or what's going on with your powers."
"Oh," I just sat there, trying to remember what we had talked about. "Right. About the dreams; Like I said, it all started when I was 8, right after mom and dad died. They were just normal bad dreams for a while, but then one day when I was in that foster care place. I started to have this dream; It was this weird darkness that would consume everything in its way. And slowly but surely, it consumed the whole world. And at the end of it, I was the one standing in the front. Like I was the one that had to fight the monster. It's weird, I know."
After I finished I realized that I was just staring off into space. When I looked back at Leo, he had this concerned look on his face. "Oh." He said as he looked down, he seemed worried about something. "That's not...okay...uh..."
"Are you okay?" I walked up to him and rested my hand on his shoulder.
"The dream was true..." He said, his tone was very panicked. "This can't be good, This is so not good."
"What's going on? Is there something you're not telling me?"
He took a deep breath. "My dreams," he started. "I always had this dream of you. The city was nearly destroyed, darkness was everywhere and people were injured or in danger, and...there was you...standing in the middle of it all. I don't want to make assumptions, but maybe, just maybe this has something to do with the future."
I looked at him in shock. "You're having these dreams too."
He paused for a moment then shook his head. "When you get done eating, meet me outside. Practice starts then and there."
And with that he walked out of the room.
[Inter thoughts of Danny:...IS THIS DUDE NOT GOING TO EAT HIS CEREAL?! >:(]
