I'm home!"

Madison finally arrived home. She closed the door and took off her shoes. "Madi, could you please come here?" she heard her mom call her from the kitchen.

When she walked into the living room, Riley was playing with her dolls on the floor while cartoons softly played on the TV.

Madi smiled at the girl and bent down to hug her. "Hi! How was school?" she asked. "It was okay." smiled Riley as she looked up at her sister.

"I'm glad then. Wanna watch cartoons later?"

"Yeah!"

"Alright." Madison smiled at her sister before making her way to the kitchen as she remembered that her mom needed her. "Why'd you call me?" she asked.

"Why did you get detention, Madi?" her mom asked as she cut the meat for dinner.

Madi leaned against the counter, sighing. "I bumped into Brenigan and I kinda like raised my voice." she explained. She really didn't know what to expect from her mom right now.

"What?"

"I'm sorry, I thought it was a student or something."

"You would yell at your classmates?" her mom asked, a bit taken aback. "Okay, no. I was just a bit short tempered today." "Okay, well, don't yell at anyone next time, alright?" her mom sighed.

"Okay. Sorry."

"It's alright. Do you have any homework?"

"Not for tomorrow." answered Madison unsurely. "You sure?" her mom asked, preparing the pan for the meat.

Her mom kept asking Madi about her homework because it often happened that Madison forgot about it and got a bad grade for the untouched work. Her mom surely doesn't want her daughter failing just because of her forgetfulness.

And also her absolute no care for school.

"Yeah, I've got nothing." Madi said after she thought about it. "Okay then. Go be with Riley. Dinner will be done soon."

"Okay." Madi said, making her way back into the living room. Riley joined her on the couch and for the rest of the night they watched cartoons.

She couldn't keep the whole band detention thing out of her mind. Madi didn't know what to do and wasn't exactly sure that there would be something done about it. That thought caused a bit of disappointment in her.

Madison ran into the locker room since she forgot her drink there and she was exhausted from PE.

She opened her locker and grabbed her bottle, when her phone buzzed. Madi reached her hand for the phone and grabbed it. She got a text.

Fluke or destiny? We need to talk -Stella

Madi smiled at her phone before placing it back into her locker. This time, she didn't forget to take her bottle out with her.

The group of six were sitting at a table at Dante's. After all of them got the text from Stella, they decided to meet up.

As Mo started talking, the pizza got served. "We talked about this. It's not gonna happen." she sighed. "Sure it is." started Stella. Everyone took a slice of pizza and started eating.

"I signed us up for Rising Star this morning."

Madison stopped mid bite as she looked at Stella who sat across from her. "What?" she asked. "Yeah. We're not experienced enough." Charlie explained after her.

Stella took a bite from her pizza finally as she looked at everyone. "Which is why I also signed us up for the Halloween Bash."

Mo almost spit out her drink after hearing what Stella said. None of them knew how to feel about this. What will happen? What if most of them don't want to join still?

And even if they agree, how will they perform? Rehearse? All of it. Nothing was planned or talked about in the first place. That conversation is very much needed by the way.

They barely knew anything about each other, let alone music and working together. It was crazy. How could they become a band when they're still complete strangers?

"What? How did you pull that off?" Wen asked the girl. "It's amazing what a principal will agree to if he thinks his 'new problem student' is channeling her energy into something productive." Stella said with a proud smile.

Madison sent her a smile. Even if she was worried, she couldn't deny the fact that she was impressed.

Mo turned to look at Stella. "Stella. Goofing around in detention does not make us a band." Stella furrowed her brows. "So we'll practice."

Olivia just continued to eat, acting like she wasn't even there.

Madi wanted to be in the band so bad, she was just overthinking it way too much. All the what ifs and consequences. But the possibilities were drawing her in. She really couldn't help, but feel the longing to be in a band.

Imagine having a fan base that absolutely adores you. Let's not start about the tours and performing.

A literal dream that just felt so right.

"You have real drums, right?" Stella asked Charlie to which the boy answered. "Yeah?" It came out more like a question which was not intended. He was just quite confused.

Stella leaned closer to the girls. "See. I didn't even know that." she whispered, making them laugh to themselves.

"Okay. So what are we gonna play?" asked Olivia. Wen looked up at her immediately. "You could write our songs." he suggested with his mouth full.

"Me?"

"Yeah."

"Why not Madison?" Olivia groaned, looking at the girl. Before she could refuse, Wen beat her to it. "You write songs too?"

Madison let out a sigh. "I guess?"

"Great. We got two song writers. I mean the one you guys did the other day was pretty amazing."

Olivia shook her head. "That was nothing." she said as she brought the cup up to her mouth. The blonde would do anything to get out of this situation. The more she thought about it, the more anxious she got. "I- I think I'm gonna be sick." Olivia told the group, putting her drink and pizza back down.

"Wait. We can't play the Bash. Mudslide Crush is playing." Mo informed them. Stella leaned closer to the table. "And we are opening for them."

Stella and Wen shared a high five. They were really into the idea of a band and so was Madi she was just, once again, overthinking it all.

"I don't know about the rest of you guys, but I don't wanna be a random face in the yearbook. Or a kid people vaguely recall passing in the halls. I wanna be heard."

"Wen and I are in. Who's with us?" asked Stella with hope in her eyes as she looked at them. She really wanted this to work. "I'll give it a shot."

"Really?"

"But only if everyone else agrees. Just one practice. If it works, great. If not, I'm out." Mo said. Stella and Wen smiled upon hearing the news.

Madison thought about it for a second. This was seriously like a once in a lifetime opportunity and it was also an opportunity to finally follow her dream. Screw it. Why not?

"I'm in too." she smiled. "For real?"

"Yeah."

Wen, Stella, Madi and Mo high fived as they laughed. The band was slowly coming together.

Olivia's slurping caught their attention. "Come on. Say you'll try. Please."

"It'll be fun." Stella tried convincing the blonde. "So much fun."

"Pretty, pretty please. Sugar on top."

"Please."

"Oh, okay, okay. I'll do it."

The group cheered. Stella threw her head back and put her arms in the air. "Yes! Yes!"

Everyone looked at the last remaining band member. He looked around, thinking. "You know what?" he pulled out a coin. "Heads, we do it. Tails, we don't."

They all agreed. Charlie flipped the coin, and in that moment, everything felt like it turned into slow motion.

Once the coin landed, all of them got up and huddled around the coin as fast as they could.

One of the misconceptions about Lemonade Mouth is that we were a natural fit from the start.

Madison smiled wide when she saw what the coin had landed on.

Totally not true.

It was heads.

 It was heads
