GEMMA YAWNED AS SHE TOOK A SEAT AT THE TABLE.

She placed her elbow on the table, resting her head in her hand. She had barely gotten any sleep, having spent the night worrying about Miguel. He hadn't replied to a single message that she had sent him. Her mind started to play tricks on her, assuming the worst and limiting her from being able to get a restful night's sleep.

"Hey, Sam," Gemma lifted her head when she heard her father's voice. "Banana-rama chocolate chip pancakes are up."

Gemma rolled her eyes. Of course he had gone out of his way to make her favorite pancakes. Anything to make up for the fact that he had embarrassed her at the dance, which she only knew because she overheard Sam talking Yasmine and Moon the night before.

"Oh sweet!" Anthony exclaimed, taking a seat at the table. "Cha-ching!"

Gemma grabbed two pancakes and tossed them on her plate, watching as Anthony did the same. He reached for the syrup and started pouring it on his pancakes.

"Hey, hey, remember, save some for your sister. You know those are her favorites," Daniel told them both.

"Oh, like we don't like pancakes?" Anthony asked as he passed the syrup bottle to Gemma.

She grabbed it from him, squeezing out enough syrup to drown her pancakes and form a pool on her plate.

"Hey, come on, Sam!" Daniel called out. "You're missing out!"

Anthony grabbed his pancake covered with syrup and chocolate chips with his hand, spraying whipped cream on it. "Nice! Pancake taco."

Gemma shoved a piece of pancake in her mouth, cringing as she watched him shove his so called pancake taco into his mouth. Syrup was dripping down his hand and into his arm.

"Gem, you've gotta try it!"

Gemma shoved another bite into her mouth as she shook her head. "I think I'm good."

"Come on, dude. Seriously?" Daniel said to Anthony before turning to Gemma. "And Gemma, don't talk with your mouth full."

Gemma nodded her head as she continued eating, laughing at Anthony as she watched him try to eat his pancake taco. At the sound of footsteps walking down the stairs, Gemma turned her head to see Sam go for the door immediately. As she walked out of the house, the door slammed behind her.

Gemma looked up at her father as he sighed.

"I've got to get to work," Daniel said, looking at Gemma. "You think you can drop your brother off at school?"

Gemma swallowed her food before speaking. "Of course. See you later."

"Thanks, Gemma," Daniel said before he turned the stove off, placing more pancakes on the table.
