The next day at school, rumors of tanner and Emily at the dance had spread like wildfire. Emily walked into the cafeteria, feeling the weight of everyone's eyes on her. But then she saw Tanner, standing and waving her over to his table.
Tanner: "Hey, over here!"
Emily hesitated for a moment before walking over and sitting beside him. His friends looked surprised but welcomed her warmly.
Tanner: (smiling) "So, Einstein, what's on the agenda for today?"
Emily smiled back, feeling a new sense of confidence.
