CHAPTER ONE / NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT
When Gojō Satoru said he was going to send him on a very important mission, Yūta didn't expect to end in a crowded mall, arms full of shopping bags and in charge of a lively girl two years younger than him.
Three weeks have passed since his first ever mission alongside Maki. Content about it being successful and unfamiliar to his teacher's sneaky tactics to avoid responsibilities, he naively thought he was being tasked with a crucial duty he could not avoid in any possible way.
"This mission is really, really important and you need to take it seriously because it can be dangerous. The results will be decisive for your future... But don't worry, you got this! I can't think of anyone else strong enough to do it!" That's what a grinning Gojō told him hours prior ending up in this situation.
Gulping back his anxiety, Yūta's first thought was that he was done for. Second mission and he was going to already experience a, very probably, horrible death in hands of a curse, and somehow that was the best case scenario in his mind. Not dying and failing the mission would be the worst outcome of them all, considering his teacher's words about how the results would be decisive for this future.
Maybe he just wasn't prepared for the sorcerer life.
However, how could he not worry and how could Gojō be so calm about it?
It made no sense, at least, not until a pink haired girl angrily entered the room. Closing harshly and with no care the door behind her, which made noise loud enough to make Yūta flinch, she walked quickly towards the adult, stomping on the floor.
"Suyin, what are you doing here?" Gojō's grin was no longer there, and his usual jovial expression was replaced by a troubled one. "I told you to wait outside, you can't just-"
"I did wait outside, you know! But I've been waiting for a whole hour now!" She yelled at him, clearly annoyed, not even letting him finish speaking. "You promise me we are going shopping, you tell me to wait and then you ditch me! And the worst part of it all is that I'm not even surprised!"
Thanking God his presence was being dismissed, Yūta was holding his breath as much as he could, afraid to be noticed if he breathed loud enough.
"Listen, there's a logical explanation for-"
"No there isn't! I dont need your excuses! I don't even care anymore." The girl crossed her arms. "I'm so angry because after you decided to ditch me I called Megumi, and as soon as I mentioned shopping he hung up on me! Am I the problem? Is that what's happening?" Her angry yells soon became quiet sobs, which made Yūta feel bad.
However, when his gaze went from her to Gojō, who seemed to be trying to suppress his laughter, he was very confused.
"You know your fake tears don't work anymore, right?" The adult put his arm in the girl's head, patting it.
