huffing and puffing, kailani rolled over to quiet her iphone alarm, half asleep. except, what she hit wasn't actually her phone. she wasn't even on the side of her bedside table, she had rolled over to the side closest to her door and it was her brother taylor and it was his head she had accidentally grabbed and aggresively smacked - not her iphone on the bedside table. 

immediately, kailani woke up and she grabbed ahold of her older brother's head and pulled him closer and hugged him tightly, "...oh my gosh, taylor i am so sorry! i didn't mean to hit you, i thought i had rolled over towards my bedside table!" she tried to whisper apologetically, kissing taylor's head as taylor just laughed, moving his head away 

"it's okay, lani, you didn't hurt me! i was just coming in here to wake you up because it's christmas and mom and dad want everyone awake before lunch today," taylor spoke up with a little bit of humour in his voice as kailani chuckled, rubbing her eyes 

"well, thank you taylor! and honestly, i don't blame mom and dad for getting you to wake me up cause if they asked maria, she would have come and joined me in bed and we would've stayed asleep," kailani giggled as does taylor as she finally reaches over to turn her iphone alarm off which had been beeping like crazy

"haha, that's a photo opportunity i would have loved to take! oh and by the way, after breakfast, we've decided we're going to go down to the beach, i know it's meant to be winter but, because we decided to have christmas in l.a, mom and dad wanted to check out the beach. and, also i think dad wants to see you surf so..." taylor trailed off as kailani rolled her eyes but nodded her head

"...that sounds perfect, taylor! you gonna come though, i bet you want to watch too and maybe, take a few photos?" kailani teased with a giggle as she stood up to put on her baggy hoodie that taylor actually bought her over her satin pyjama shorts 

"sure, i'd never say no to watching my little sister surf however, maria and shaun will not be joining us until lunch time back here at home since they are visiting shaun's family for breakfast!" taylor smiles as kailani nods her head 

"ah, that's why mom and dad had you wake me up, because maria was already awake, i understand now! well, as long as we get photos and updates from maria and shaun, that's all i care about honestly," kailani smiles as she moves back over to her bed where taylor was still standing

grabbing taylor's hand, she hauls the both of them out of her bedroom, "come on taylor, our family's waiting for us! we cannot leave them hanging, especially if we've got places to be!" kailani's voice went up an octave, making taylor giggle as they rush out of the hallway and into the family kitchen in taylor's l.a home

the kitchen was where mom, dad and the rest of the zakhar perez's were all waiting for sibling number six and number nine of their crazy family. mom and dad were drinking their coffee together in the corner whilst the other siblings and their children were around the place eating their breakfast, dad looking up and smiling over at two of his kids. 

"and there they are! well done taylor, you woke up kailani! so, lani, you up for a surf day today with us all going down to the beach or do you want me to see if maria and shaun are able to take you with them?" dad asked as kailani's eyes lit up even more, smiling over at her brother who stood next to her

"i get a choice? this dude only said i could go surfing with everyone else," kailani teased, poking her older brother as he laughs, which makes the rest of the family laugh as the patriarch of the family spoke up again
