Liam's POV
It was bonfire night and I was together with all of the boys. We had all managed to meet up in June as well, and we'd had a few days chilling at Niall's house, which had been great. The boys were being really kind and understanding, and with their support I was feeling much more like my normal self. I was starting to write pieces of songs, and Cheryl and I had come to an arrangement about Bear. Life was getting better.
"Another drink Liam?" Louis asked me.
"Yeah. Why not?"
"When are the fireworks starting?"
"Any minute now."
"Will we be able to see them from here?" Harry asked me.
"See them? We're on a balcony overlooking London. Of course we'll be able to see them."
"It's a valid question."
"Here we go Liam," Louis said as he came over with our drinks.
"Thanks Louis," I said, and I took my drink from him as the first firework went off.
"Woah! Fucking hell," Niall cried out, as it went off very close to us. The loud bang made Louis stumble, and I caught him as he nearly fell over the balcony's barricade.
"Louis! Are you alright?" I asked as I pulled him back.
"Yeah, I almost went over. I wasn't prepared for that firework."
"Stand over here with me Louis," Harry said.
"Ok. Thanks Harry," Louis said and he went over to stand with Harry. Fireworks this close, with Louis's sensitive hearing, weren't ideal.
"Are you ok?" Harry asked Louis as he wrapped his arm around Louis's waist.
"Yeah. It just startled me, and my balance went."
"At least here you won't fall over the balcony."
"Exactly," Louis said, and the fireworks continued. I watched the firework display until my foot slipped and I fell over the balcony with a shout.
"Argh!"

Injured

Harry's POV
The fireworks finished and I turned to Louis, who was checking his ears.
"Are you alright Louis?"
"Yeah, they were just a bit close."
"Are your ears ok?"
"I think so. There's a ringing sound, but hopefully that will stop in a minute."
"Alright."
"They were very loud. Is everything ok Louis?" Niall asked as he came over to us.
"Yeah... ok, the ringing's stopped."
"Good. It was a bit too loud for Louis," I told Niall.
"Shit, your ears."
"Yeah. I almost fell off the balcony, but Liam stopped me."
"You almost fell?" Niall asked in disbelief.
"Yeah. The first one startled me and I almost went over.
"Payno did you...?" Niall asked, before he cut himself off as he looked round. "Liam?"
"Where is he?"
"He was here a minute ago."
"Did he go inside for something?"
"He might have done, but I had just got him a drink," Louis told us.
"There's a lot of noise coming from below us," I said, and I walked to the balcony. My heart stopped as I saw Liam. He was sitting on the side of the infinity pool, and he was clearly struggling to breathe. People were around him, and they were clearly worried.
"Is that Liam?"
"What's he doing down there?" Louis and Niall, asked as they looked over the balcony with me.
"Fuck. You don't think he fell?"
"Off the balcony?" Louis asked, and he became serious. "We need to get down there," Louis said and Niall and I followed him.

Louis's POV
"Liam. What happened lad?" I asked as I rushed to him.
"...fell," Liam gasped. He didn't have his shirt on, and his chest was bruised.
"Did you fall off the balcony?" Niall asked, and Liam nodded in response.
"Argh," Liam winced as someone placed an ice pack onto his back, and I took hold of it.
"We didn't know Liam. You stopped me from going over, then you fell?"
"Moments... ter..."
"Don't talk for now Liam."
"You're clearly struggling."
"Is he ok?" Harry asked someone beside us.
"He's winded and bruised, but he should be alright."
"Are you a doctor or something?" I asked them.
"I'm a doctor. I chatted to Harry earlier in the night."
"So Liam's going to be alright?"
"He should be fine."
"Let's lie you down Liam. It will make breathing easier," I said, and the other boys helped me to lie Liam on his back.
"How did we not notice that Liam fell?" Niall asked.
"It was the fireworks, they were very loud."
"But he fell over the balcony."
"We were looking the other way Niall."
"We should have seen or heard something."
"Boy..." Liam gasped before he took a deep breath in.
"Are you ok?" I asked him.
"...getting there."
"That's good."
"I... slipped... went, over..."
"I'm really sorry that we didn't notice Liam."
"It's... ok."
"We're with you now."
"How much does your chest hurt?"
"A, lot."
"It's badly bruised."
"Have you broken any ribs?"
"Don't... don't think... so..."
"Just take some deep breaths Liam," I told him.

We stayed with Liam as his breathing improved, and soon he was able to sit up. We gave him some painkillers and Harry got him some more ice. Everyone else had continued the party, but they had turned the music down and moved it inside to give us some space.
"I was not expecting this to happen tonight," Niall said.
"No."
"How's the pain?" I asked Liam.
"It's getting better."
"Good, because this ice is melting."
"Do you want to stay up Liam, or do you want to go to bed?" Harry asked him.
"I think getting... some rest, would be the best plan."
"Ok."
"Who do you want me to give you a hand Liam?" I asked him.
"If you could. My chest hurts."
"Of course. Come on," I said, and we all gave Liam a hand to stand up.
"Are you going to be ok with just Louis?" Harry asked him.
"Yeah."
"Ok."
"Get some rest and we'll check on you in the morning Liam."
"Thanks guys. And thank you for being there for me this year. Despite falling and getting winded, I'm so much better than I was, this time last year."
"That's great to hear Liam."
"This is about Cheryl?"
"It is. Thank you for being kind to me boys."
"Of course."
"You mean the world to us Liam. Now, get some rest."
"Come on Liam," I said, and we walked together back to Liam's hotel room.

Liam & Louis

"How are you doing?" I asked as I came into the bathroom and Liam was doing his teeth. He was holding onto the sink to keep himself upright, but he nodded at me. "Good. Your bed's ready and I've found your pyjamas."
"Thanks Louis."
"Of course."
"That was scary."
"I bet it was. Woah," I said as Liam started to fall, but I wrapped my arm around him.
"Argh..." Liam groaned as I was pressing on his chest.
"Sorry. But you would've hurt yourself more if you had fallen onto the ground."
"Yeah. Thanks," Liam said but he was still in pain.
"Let's get you to bed."
"Ok..." Liam said, and I walked him to his bed. I then closed the curtains and turned the lights off, before I saw that Liam was struggling to put his pyjama top on.
"You don't need that Liam. If it hurts too much, leave it off."
"I might do that Louis."
"Just lie down and go to sleep. Your body will heal itself overnight."
"Yeah," Liam agreed and he lay down. I put the covers over him, and I saw that Liam was still in pain.
"Are you sure that you haven't broken any ribs?"
"Not entirely. But doctors can't do anything if I have."
"Very true. Just go to sleep, and text or call me during the night if you need to. The time doesn't matter."
"Thanks Louis."
"Get some rest," I said, and Liam closed his eyes. I turned off the final light, before I left Liam and headed back to the party.

I got myself a drink and re-joined Harry and Niall.
"How's Liam?"
"He's good. He's in bed and getting some rest."
"I can't believe that happened Louis."
"Neither can I."
"Liam's ok, and that's what matters. To Liam," Harry said as he raised his glass and both Niall and I joined him in raising the toast.
"To Liam."
"To Liam!" I called, and we all drank. We were all very proud of Liam and life was finally good for all of us 💕.
