Desperately gasping for air, and trying to steady the thunderous beating of her heart, she awoke from that awful dream.
She was thankful she didn't have to stare at those dangerous orbs of eyes that the stranger processed, something about them felt familiar, like she had seen them before.
But where? She had no clue, sitting in her drenched nightgown wouldn't give her any answers either, besides she was feeling the coming of a slight headache. She sighed taking the covers off her body she had to get ready, today she and Lara were both going to visit ma and pa and she didn't want Lara to worry about her laying in bed for to long.
She left for the small like room that sat at the middle of lara's and her's bedroom space, ears perked up to listen for any sounds of Lara's awakening or any sounds of cringing floorboards, she was still very much on edge from yesterday.
Finally satisfied with no sound of noise, she slipped into the bathroom and made a mental note to wash her dirty curls.
Her bath took no longer than 30 minutes, she had no desire to waste water and she was already tired, housing bags under her eyelids she looked into the mirror on the bathroom wall, the image of a girl she couldn't recognise stared back at her, a girl that wasn't her, one that had so many emotions flowing freely in her eyes, the strongest of them was pity.
She pitied herself, knowing she could never find neither love nor sleep, her grey storm for eyes shone with tears, tears she wanted to so badly shed, yet she couldn't, not now anyways she needed to get ready and make breakfast before Lara woke from her slumber.
She chose to wear the finest dress she owned, sadly that wasn't close to being expensive or of any value, but it held a little bit of value to her and she loved the dress, Lara had gifted her the dress when she was about turning seventeen, so even if no one liked it, she loved it, it was the most precious thing she owned.
It was a light pink coloured dress with golden coloured floral patterns that started from the waist and touched the bottom of the skirt, the blossom area was covered in more floral patterns and had lacing at the neck and hands giving it a beautiful shy look.
She grabbed a shawl from the coat stand and a grey winter coat that matched her eyes and set off to gather breakfast, a basket in hand and some saved up change in a purse in the other she set off for the bustling market area were she was sure some few shops might have opened. Right as she was a handful of shops had set up sell , luring customers into patronising there wears.
But she had no interest for what the other vendors Sold, she wanted just a loaf of bread and a stick of butter with some eggs, she headed for mrs.marilla's store.
The sun had just peaked it's rays out when she returned home from the shops, surely enough Lara was already up, cleaning up and getting ready to leave for work.
She greeted her with a warm smile when she turned her way."Did you go out to buy the food again Zia" Lara asked .
She smiled, she knew Lara, she was surely going to scold her for getting out of bed and into the freezing streets to get them breakfast.
"Uhm yes, I did, I knew you were sleeping and I woke early so I decided to run the errand on your behalf" she hoped Lara wouldn't get mad."Its fine just don't do it again, something might have happened to you, next time you wake me up okay?" She turned giving her a stern glare.
"You worry to much Lara, I can handle myself I'm barely even a kid anymore" she argued, knowing well enough Lara was just worrying for no good reason.
"I do not worry for no reason, do you see how those people look at me and you?? What if they had harmed you, then what Zia" Lara barked back with a lacing of frustration in her speech, she was done with this, she didn't want to argue this early with her sister. So she gave in.
"I'm sorry Lara I'll let you know next time" she said with a little smile .Lara sighed, surely she knew Zia wouldn't understand or listen so she took the apology just as it were, she had no desire to scold her so early.
"It's alright just get the fire place running I'll make breakfast and then we can both leave together for work, alright?!" Lara said.
Zia walked into the little kitchen dropping the food items on a small wooden table, she made for the fireplace, cleaning up the left over ash she added some new dry wood, with a match stick she set fire to the wood.
While the wood burned to create crisp flames, she left the cooking to Lara, she wasn't in much of a mood to cook anyways, she needed air .
Taking her coat, she left the shawl inside so Lara wouldn't think she went out again.
She walked to the back exit of the house, once the doors were open the cold rush of air hit her strongly on the face, she was flushed, pink colours coated her cheeks and lips .
She stepped onto the pavement area, the back looked isolated except from a wooden fence that seperated her home from the forest on the other side they was nothing else their.
She walked closer to the fence, it was already worn out, the woods looked like they could break at any moment but surprisingly it held its own, she touched it, it was soft but yet rough, she laughed, surely it couldn't be so, nothing was soft and yet still rough.
She peered over the fence and into the forest, it's greenery looked amazing, the Tall trees that sprung up with thick and long branches, it formed a path deeper into the forest .
She was curious as to where, but she wasn't stupid enough to go searching, she sighed maybe another time, when it wasn't winter and freezing. Just as she made to turn she saw a shadow like figure at the edge of the forest, where her eyes could atleast see. How?! Who would go in their during this freezing month, mouth agape and eyes wide she sort out the figure, but it wasn't their anymore.
Maybe she was beginning to hallucinate, she thought.
Yet again she saw it, but this time it felt like it came even closer than before, she could atleast make out it was a male "hello" she called out.
No response. Surely he could have most likely heard her, she wasn't whispering that's for sure, she called out again " are you alright Mister do you need help".
He moved even closer this time, close enough for her to see his eyes, she gasped "you!" .
Those golden orbs stared back at her with such intensity she backed away from the fence, how could he have found her ?, He was only a figment of her dreams, surely he wasn't real or was she imagining things again?.
"It is time Zia, you are mine" the man said.
"No!!, Who are you, I'm not yours leave me alone" she screamed at him, surely someone must have heard her by now.
They might think she was going crazy.
"I'm Daemon, and you are mine, you must return with me Zia lint".
She gasped he knew her last name too, who was the man or what was he, why did he call her his and where did he come from.
"I'll come tonight, don't be scared of me, for I am yours Zia" the man said before turning around and walking deeper into the forest area she couldn't see.
Wait what! Did he say he was coming for her, Tonight!? But who was he and what did he want . A hand on her shoulder woke her from her state like trance, she turned with so much force she would have broken her neck or worst her head would have snapped off.
Lara's worried eyes greeted hers,
" are you alright Zia ?, You screamed so loud I thought you broke something or got kidnapped".
"I'm fine, it's just I saw a man in the forest over their " she sad pointing towards were the man daemon had stood before.
"Theirs no one there Zia are you sure you saw a man?" Lara asked.
She was sure she saw him, he spoke to her, and he was coming tonight.
"You're right maybe it's just my mind playing games with me" She knew that wasn't true at all.
"Come, have made breakfast let's go eat before it gets cold" Lara said beckoning her inside and away from the fence, she turned back to take a last glance before heading inside, but she saw it yet again.
Those eyes it stared right at her, not wavering for a second.
just as the back door closed, she turned to look at Lara, they were inside now and heading for the kitchen.
