"Thank you, Jiwon. You are my savior," Chan said with a bright smile, patting the girl who had just handed him her homework. Jiwon blushed deeply, laughing awkwardly as she tried to avoid his intense gaze, shivering from the feel of his touch.

"Huh, you're cute," Chan added, noticing the effect his actions had on the poor girl.

"No, really, if not for your kind soul, I would be screwed. Professor Lee would tear me to pieces." Chan's words were making Jiwon feel faint. The nicest guy on campus, everyone's college crush, had not only spoken to her but also called her cute!

Y/N silently observed the interaction from her desk, envying Jiwon and wishing she had done her homework instead of being like Chan and begging her desk mate for help. If that would make him talk to her, she would do all her homework. And who knows, maybe he would call Y/N cute too?

"Today's lunch is on me," Y/N overheard Chan telling Jiwon in the cafeteria. Wow, being called cute and getting a free lunch? That Jiwon girl was definitely the luckiest girl in the world, at least in Y/N's opinion. What could she possibly do to make Chan notice her too? She wasn't better than Chan at any subject, nor was she more talented than him. And she wasn't the cutest or sexiest girl on campus either.

Y/N was so deep in thought that she didn't notice her surroundings, causing her to trip and drop her tray of lunch. Unfortunately, her lunch ended up splattering all over Chan's white shirt. The whole situation didn't play out in slow motion like in the movies; it happened so fast that no one seemed to realize what had occurred for a moment. Y/N stared at Chan, who was staring at his shirt, while everyone else around them stared at the two of them.

Finally, Chan was the first to snap back to reality. "Are you okay?" he asked Y/N, who was still on the floor, shocked from what had happened. She didn't even realize that her knee was hurting terribly. Someone else came over to help her, but every face besides Chan's seemed blurry to her. She was still agape with wide eyes when she tried to stand up and almost fell again, saved only by Chan's quick reaction. Someone was wiping her knee, and she saw the blood on the napkins before the world went dark.

"How are you, dear?" a distant voice and a blurry face made their way into Y/N's mind. She blinked rapidly to clear her vision, and after a few more blinks, the figure turned into a woman in white. Y/N's mind finally started to piece together what had happened. The nurse informed her that she had fainted from shock and that her knee might be fractured. She needed to call someone to help her get to the hospital for a checkup and treatment.

"I'll get her," another voice said. Y/N turned her head to see that Chan had been standing behind her the whole time, listening to the nurse's instructions. She was less shocked now than she had been in the cafeteria, but still not fully conscious enough to respond. All she could do was stare. Chan didn't seem fazed by this and, displaying his leadership skills, organized their way to the hospital. On the way, Y/N finally found her voice and tried to apologize for everything she had caused. Chan just shrugged it off and told her to forget about it.

Even though Y/N's dream had finally come true—Chan was talking to her—she felt extremely uncomfortable and guilty about the whole situation. How could she make it up to him?

The doctors at the hospital confirmed the campus nurse's assessment: it was indeed a knee fracture, meaning Y/N's movement would be limited for quite some time. The realization made her heart sink. Not only had she embarrassed herself in front of her crush, but she had also gotten herself into so much trouble.

"Lollipop?" Chan asked, his head tilted to the side and a warm smile on his face. He extended a hand to Y/N, offering her a candy while enjoying one himself.

"Come on, Y/N, it's not that bad," he continued.

"Huh, I'm sorry, Chan. I shouldn't be this down. It's all my fault anyway. That's the price for having my head in the clouds."

"Just don't stare at me next time. Come talk to me instead."

"What?" Y/N's jaw dropped. Had he noticed her staring at him and listening to his conversation?

"If you had a bit more confidence and finally talked to me once, my shirt and your knee would be totally fine."

"I... I am terribly sorry, Chan," Y/N said with a trembling voice, her eyes unconsciously filling with tears.

"No, wait, I'm sorry. I didn't mean it that way. I meant that we've studied together for a while now, and we see each other often. Of course I noticed how you look at me. I understood that you were shy and gave you time to build up the confidence to finally approach me. If not for this accident, I would have eventually gotten fed up and talked to you myself."

"You? Talk to me?" Y/N replied in shock. "What would you have said?"

"I would have asked you if tomorrow at 7 p.m. worked for you."

"For what?"

"For a date. With me."
