Chapter Two

*Star's POV*

It didn't take long to arrive at the institution, it was on the outskirts of town.

When I reached my room on the second floor, I opened the door to find a twin size bed with a navy blue bed set, blank white walls, a brown desk and nightstand that matched the bed frame.

Quite boring if you ask me.

My parents trailed behind me while I entered the room.

My lovely mother cleared her throat "We have to get going. We just want you to know that we love you and this is why we're doing this, it's for your own good, Star." My mom said sincerely.

"Yeah, whatever." I shrugged, still spiteful about this situation, I didn't have to be here they could've left me alone.

I hugged each of my parents before they left saying they'd be back to visit in two weeks.

Yay...

At noon a blond nurse came into my room to tell me that lunch was ready.

I was never one to skip a meal nor did I want them to think I had some type of eating disorder too.

I followed her down to what she called the "dining hall."

There I saw other kids that looked to be my age, I guess they keep the patients separated by age.

All the other boys and girls looked to be normal. They seemed like kids I go to school with. Great that means there's gotta be a bully somewhere...

Then I noticed they were all staring at me. They knew I was new. It's not everyday someone new comes to reside in this place.

I stood in line waiting to get food. I was right behind this tall blond boy I couldn't tell what was going on in front of him due to his height, I guess it was something funny because, him and the person in front of him burst out laughing.

The boy in front of me suddenly moved backward slightly, causing him to bump into me.

He turned around to face me.

"Sorry I didn't know someone was behind me. Hey! You're the new girl, I'm Jake and this is Mason." Jake said while pointing to his friend behind him.

Jake was hot. His dirty blond hair landing right above his eyes, his dreamy brown eyes anyone could get lost in. His lightly tanned skin accentuated his features perfectly.

I don't usually talk to guys, let alone beautiful ones. I suddenly got nervous.

"Are you a-mute?" Mason questioned me since I did not answer. Mason also being gorgeous was intimidating. He had shorter dark brown hair and green eyes and a pale complexion, he was only a few inches shorter than Jake, but still could be considered tall.

I shook my head no. "Sorry, my name is Star." I replied.

"A pretty name, for a pretty girl." Jake said. I felt the heat in my cheeks rise at his complement.

"Thanks."

"So what are you in for?" Mason asked.

I put on a sort of bored expression and picked at my fingernails while replying. "Oh nothing really, just killed a guy." I said seriously.

Mason and Jake's jaws dropped.

"Close your mouths boys you might catch flies." I said smugly. I dropped the act. "Okay, okay I'm here for my "obsession". I used air quotes around obsession.

"Now that I can believe." Jake spoke up.

"So my turn, why are you two here?"

They both looked at me skeptically. I could tell they did not want to tell me.

"It's cool you don't have to tell me, after all you just met me."

They smiled at my understanding. They were mirroring each others reactions perfectly, those two must have spent a lot of time together. We finally realized the line started moving. We got our food and went and sat at an empty table.

I can already tell that they'll be my safe haven here. I looked around the room to see many shocked and nervous expressions all directed to us. Hmm, I wonder what that's about.
