I look into Rafe's green eyes and instantly, a smile tucks at the corner of my lips.
"Merry Christmas," he tells me and puts his hands in the pockets of his coat.
"Merry Christmas," I reply with a soft smile. Before I can ask him what he's doing here, he clears his throat and gives me a charming smile which causes my cheeks to flush a faint pink.
"I was wondering if you'd like to go out with me. Maybe at the diner?"
This knocks the air out of my lungs and I spend a minute just looking at him with raised eyebrows. Is Rafe McCawley seriously asking me on a date right now? And I haven't said anything yet?
Get it together, y/n.
I chuckle nervously before nodding my head, "I'd like to go out with you, Rafe."
This makes him smile even wider and he comes the last step up to me, reaches for my hand and leans his head down to kiss my cheek.
In the corner of my eye, I see Steve approaching but freezes when he sees us. His shoulders slump and he turns around again, walking back home.

THIRD PERSON POV
"Steve come on talk to me," Sarah begs while leaning against the wall next to his bedroom door. And having a conversation with her son through said door. "No!"
She looks at Bucky's mother, Francesca, who gives her friend an apologetic look. Trying to calm herself down, Sarah takes a deep breath, "I can't help you if you're not going to tell me what's bothering you."
Despite his anger and sadness because of who knows who, he unlocks his door and looks up at his mother with glossy eyes, "I don't want to talk about it, mom." And before she knows it, the door is locked again, leaving Sarah hurt and confused.
Francesca gets up from her seat to comfort her friend. She knows being a mother is never easy and Sarah doesn't have anyone who can comfort her after a long and stressful day of dealing with a teenager.
Francesca rubs Sarah's arms softly and offers her a smile, "don't worry about it too much, he's a teenager. They're all acting up at some point."
"He used to tell me everything, Fran. Now he's moody all the time and won't tell me what's going on in his life."
"That's what being a teenager means, Sarah," Francesca chuckles and gives her a quick hug. "Come on, he'll come around."

"You're really going on a date with him?," Lucy asks her little sister confused while flipping through a fashion magazine. You're sitting at her vanity and apply some light makeup, "yes. What's so wrong about it?"
Lucy mumbles something inaudible while turning the page. You know she's actually not reading anything in that article. "Nothing's wrong about it, I just...," she sighs, defeated and tosses the magazine aside, crossing her arms as she leans against her wooden headrest. "I've never seen you hanging out with Rafe. It came as a surprise when you told me." Well it was also a surprise for you. Never in a million years would you have thought that Rafe would ask out you. You would have guessed that he had found interest in Betty maybe. No...Betty is with James, you quickly remember.
