"What the hell...?" Garrett mumbled to himself, still waking up. He slowly rose, and sat on the edge of his bed. Something was off. He looked to his left, his boyfriend, Dominic wasn't there. He looked around, noticing his clothes weren't on the floor where he typically would put them after undressing. A rush of anxiety went through Garrett, as he began to worry. He looked in the bathroom, no Dominic. The kitchen... still.. no Dominic. He began to panic, until he heard a voice from the living room, a news reporter on TV.
Garrett immediately made a beeline towards his living room, turning the corner and seeing the horrifying sight. A news reporter was on the television screen, her voice echoing through the room. The sight of a man on the street... Dominic! He was lifeless on the ground, blood still leaking from various holes in his body. "He's dead.." Garrett mumbled to himself, tears beginning to run down his cheeks as he fell over in shock. "Dominic... you're gone.." he cried quietly to himself.
Garrett's chest clenched as he looked at the blood dripping from various holes in his boyfriend's body. Suddenly, a wave of nausea hit him like bricks. He quickly got up and ran to the bathroom, immediately falling to his knees in front of the toilet, and quickly emptied the contents of his stomach. He sat for a few minutes, his mind racing and his chest still clenching. His head started to pound and his breath quickened. He sat there, tears running down his cheeks once more, his eyes burning.
He sat there, tears streaming down his cheeks as he leaned back on the toilet. This could not be real, this was all a dream. He pinched himself, hoping he would wake up from this horrible nightmare. Instead, a sharp pain shot through his arm and he let out a cry at the uncomfortable feeling. He let his head fall back against the wall, slowly sinking down onto the floor. He sat there for what felt like hours... his thoughts were racing too fast to keep up... his eyes burned and his chest was still clenching.
He slowly stood up, his head throbbing and his back sore. He washed the sour taste out of his mouth from vomiting, and stared at himself in the mirror. He looked terrible, a mess of disheveled hair and tear streaks on his cheeks. He felt... empty. How could this have happened...?" He thought to himself. With little to no motivation, he slowly made his way back to the living room, hoping the TV was off or on another channel, but... there it was. The news channel. Reporting... the murder..
He felt a wave of nausea once more, he quickly made his way back to the bathroom, just in time to empty the contents of his stomach into the toilet. He slumped down onto the cold, tiled floor once more. This could not be real. Everything had fallen apart, his body ached. He didn't want to go back out there, but... he had to. He slowly made his way back into the living room, and the news still replayed the horrid scene.
His head slowly looked up to the screen as it replayed the scene again. His chest clenching for the umpteenth time, tears again beginning to form in his eyes. He felt so tired, his head hurt so much he couldn't think straight. What would he do now? How would he continue on after his boyfriend was so violently murdered? All he could do in that moment, right there on the living room floor and cry.
He fell over, hitting the hard floor once more. His cheek hit the hard ground and he grimaced as the pain shot throughout his body. He laid there, his head and body throbbing and tears silently streaming down his cheeks. He laid there for a few minutes before he mustered the energy to roll onto his back. He looked up at the cold, white ceiling, wishing to just disappear into the white. His breath shaky and his eyes burning now, he just laid there and cried.
"Dominic..? DOMINIC!!" he repeated, crying more and more each time. "Dominic?! Please wake up... you have to be alive! You're playing some sick joke... wake up!" Garrett cried hopelessly as if this would wake Dominic up. His heart raced as adrenaline pumped through his veins, hoping this would turn out alright.. That he could wake up from this nightmare he so desperately needed to be in. But... there was still no response from Dominic....
