Chapter XVII

Amidst the hustle and bustle of lunchtime at St. Francis High School, Cali sat with Marcus and Joseph, feeling grateful for the unwavering support of her friends. They had been there for her since the beginning of her journey at the new school, and she knew she could rely on them to help her navigate any challenges that came her way.

As the school year progressed, Cali found herself thriving in her new environment. Her academic achievements were commendable, and she formed meaningful connections with her classmates beyond Marcus and Joseph. Looking ahead, she saw a future brimming with possibilities and opportunities for personal growth.

One sunny afternoon, Marcus approached Cali during a break between classes with a smile that lit up his face.

"Hey, Cali," Marcus said warmly. "I was thinking, would you like to meet my friends after school today?"

Cali's eyes brightened with excitement. "Of course, Marcus! I'd love to meet them."

"Great!" Marcus grinned. "They're a fun group, and I'm sure they'll love you as much as I do."

After the final bell rang, Marcus and Cali made their way to the school courtyard where Marcus's friends usually gathered. As they approached, Marcus's friends greeted him with enthusiasm.

"Hey, Marcus! Who's your friend?" Karl waved cheerfully.

Marcus smirked playfully. "She's more than just a friend, guys. Everyone, this is Cali. She's my girlfriend."

Cali blushed but smiled warmly as she greeted Marcus's friends. Their positive reactions and friendly welcome instantly put her at ease.

"Nice to meet you, Cali," Elery said with a grin. "Marcus has been talking about you non-stop. It's good to finally meet you."

"Yeah," Josh nodded in agreement. "Marcus has mentioned you a lot. It's nice to put a face to the name."

Cali chuckled softly, feeling a surge of happiness at their warm reception. "It's great to meet all of you too. Marcus has told me so much about you guys."

Marcus interjected teasingly, "Only good things, I hope."

"Don't worry, Marcus," Josh chuckled. "We'll make sure she approves of us."

Laughter and friendly banter filled the air as they continued to get to know each other. Cali found herself enjoying the company of Marcus's friends, grateful for their acceptance and the genuine camaraderie that seemed to come effortlessly among them.

As the afternoon turned into evening, Marcus and Cali bid farewell to his friends, both feeling content and happy.

"I told you they'd love you," Marcus squeezed Cali's hand affectionately.

"Thank you for introducing me, Marcus," Cali said gratefully. "Your friends are really cool."

"They are," Marcus agreed with a grin. "But not as cool as you, Love."

Walking home together, Cali couldn't help but reflect on the day's events. Marcus's thoughtfulness in introducing her to his friends made her feel cherished and accepted, strengthening their bond even further.

In the weeks that followed, Cali found herself becoming increasingly integrated into Marcus's circle of friends. They would often hang out together after school, whether it was going to the mall, grabbing snacks at their favorite café, or simply spending time at someone's house.

Chapter XVIII

One weekend, Marcus suggested organizing a casual gathering at his place, inviting Cali and their friends for an evening of relaxation and fun.

"Hey, Love," Marcus grinned. "What do you think about having a little get-together at my place this weekend? Just us and the gang."

Cali's eyes sparkled with excitement. "That sounds like a blast! Count me in."

With Cali's enthusiastic agreement, Marcus sent out invitations to their friends, and soon enough, the day of the gathering arrived. Marcus's home filled with laughter and conversation as everyone mingled and caught up with each other.

Cali soaked in the lively atmosphere, enjoying the warmth and camaraderie of Marcus's friends. She laughed at their jokes, shared stories of her own, and joined in friendly competitions of video games and board games.

As the evening progressed, Marcus's friends couldn't help but notice the easy chemistry between him and Cali. They were comfortable and happy in each other's presence, their connection evident to everyone around them.

Elery teased playfully, "Looks like Marcus finally found someone who can keep up with his jokes."

Karl added with a smirk, "Yeah, and someone who can beat him at Mario Kart too!"

Marcus feigned offense, "Hey, I'll have you know that Cali's just lucky!"

Cali grinned, "Luck had nothing to do with it, Marcus. It's all skill."

Their banter was met with laughter and camaraderie, reinforcing the bond among them. As the night drew to a close, Marcus squeezed Cali's hand with a grateful smile.

"Thanks for coming tonight, Love," Marcus said warmly. "It means a lot to me."

"Of course, Marcus," Cali returned his smile. "I had a great time. Your friends are amazing."

As they said goodbye to their friends and tidied up after the gathering, Marcus and Cali shared a quiet moment together, grateful for the love and friendship that surrounded them. Looking ahead, they knew their bond would only continue to grow stronger with each passing day.
