At the Hanagaki Resident
"Seriously? That's all you have to tell me?" you said with a deadpan expression. You had been expecting some dire news or a situation that warranted immediate and serious action. After all, Takemichi had never asked for your help lightly before and the way he seemed so panicked in the phone call had led you to believe that something really bad had happened to make him reach out to you.
"What? Isn't this a serious matter?" Takemichi asked, looking genuinely confused by your reaction. He seemed to believe that what he had shared was significant enough to warrant your presence and concern.
"It is, but why would you call me here just to tell me you've met Hinata's dad?" you asked, your eyebrows raised in disbelief. You couldn't fathom why this meeting was important enough to disturb you. "Do you want me to throw you a party or something?"
Takemichi shook his head, looking a bit flustered. "No, no, you didn't let me finish."
"Then get to the point," you said, crossing your arms and leaning your body against the wall beside you, trying to keep your patience in check. You had been ready to help with what you assumed was a major crisis, not this unexpected turn.
He took a deep breath and seemed hesitant. "He... wants me to break up with her. He thinks it's too dangerous for her to be with me because I'm a delinquent," he finally confessed, his voice shaky. The words seemed to weigh heavily on him, as if just saying them aloud made the situation more real and daunting.
You raised a brow at this, trying to process the information. "He wants you to break up with Hina?" you repeated, the surprise evident in your tone. You couldn't believe that was the real issue here. It wasn't something you had anticipated at all. You had expected a brawl, a turf war, something that fit the chaotic life Takemichi often found himself in, but not this.
Takemichi looked down and slowly nodded his head, his fist clenched, and he bit his lip before continuing. "It feels like everything is falling apart. Her dad is really worried about her safety, and I can't blame him. But it hurts to even think about leaving her."
You sighed, rolling your eyes at how pathetic he seemed right now. "What does he know?" you mumbled to yourself. Adults really love involving themselves, huh?
"Takemitchi," you started, your tone devoid of emotions. "You need to decide what's best for Hinata and for yourself. Either you do what he told you to or prove to him that you can protect his daughter."
You were seriously not expecting to be giving someone love advice. Heck, not in your whole sixteen years of living had you imagined yourself in this position. And here you thought you weren't going to have any problems with both Takemichi and Hinata's relationship. You have to give credit to those dramas you've watched because you were surprised you said that.
