I've been invited to a party by Angela Hart.
Yes, I find that hard to believe too. I got the message on Saturday night, and the party is tonight, on a Sunday. Angela and I exchanged numbers a few years ago so that she could ask me for my notes. I didn't really want to share them, because I made them myself throughout classes and lectures, and she just sat there doing nothing. But, I couldn't say no. I can't say no to most people.
It's not because I'm scared of her or anything. I just don't want to have her think of me as rude and selfish is all. Inviting me to her party, which is also the first party of the session, is her way of repaying me for all those notes, I guess.
Maybe, we could be nice friends. Maybe, she's not as mean as I thought she was.
My phone beeps, pulling me out of my thoughts. It's a message from Xavier, asking me for an answer that he couldn't solve in our chemistry book.
Tutoring Xavier has been extreme torture for me. Yesterday, we played twenty questions, and today, I just made him coffee to avoid that. I actually got to know about him a lot through the game. He's six foot two, his zodiac sign is Scorpio and he's multilingual. He knows French, English and Italian. He's interested in law, and business; he told me he's not sure yet which to choose. And he's half British.
But, I'm neither interested in knowing him, nor having him know me. I'll just tutor him, that's it.
I quickly sent Xavier the answer to the question. Then, I diverted my attention to the party again.
Shit. I still have to persuade Olivia to come with me. And believe me, that's hard. Climbing Mount Everest hard.
While I'm a people and party person, Olivia is the total introvert. She hates going to parties, and keeps to herself most of the times. I'm not the total extrovert person, because I can be too shy with people I don't feel comfortable around. I'm only talkative and crazy around people who give me good vibes, and those can be people I don't know, but feel comfortable with.
I stand up from my chair, and head towards Olivia's room. I knock on her door before entering and finding her smiling from ear to ear.
"Someone looks mad happy." I tease.
"Because that someone is mad happy." She doesn't look up as she's busy typing away something on her phone.
I raise my eyebrows and plop myself down on her bed. I look over her shoulder to find her texting Brandon. No, not texting. They're...flirting. No, he's flirting.
"Oooh"
She quickly sends him a bye text and looks up at me. "Isn't he the cutest?"
I shrug a shoulder. "Yeah, sure." I don't find him that cute or hot, but whatever. He's decent.
"He's coming at my house sometime in the next week for the project." She quirks up.
I widen my eyes and a huge smile breaks out on my face. "That's amazing! You'll finally kiss!"
"What?"
"That guy likes you. Isn't that obvious from the texts? He was clearly flirting with you."
"You're delusional. Anyways, it looks like you came here with a purpose. Spill up."
I quickly remember my motive for coming here. I'm not sure how to convince her, so I just blurt it out. "Come to a party with me."
Her eyes widen, and she opens her mouth to say something - probably no - but I'm faster. "Please, please, please?"
She closes her mouth, then opens it again, then closes it. Finally, she says, "Who's party?"
This is the part that I feared. I quietly mumble, "Angela's."
