AMELIA

The mission for today and tomorrow is to avoid both Xavier and Silas, mainly Xavier. What he said last night still baffles me. Now that I'm replaying it in my head, the way he worded it made it seem like we were royals being forced to wed; which technically, we are only we aren't royalty. The only thing I really want to know is what is he getting out of this arrangement? I know he has no issues finding a girlfriend so what else could it be?

All of this overthinking is making my head hurt and it's too early for that. I yawn while heading to my bathroom to complete my morning routine. After my shower, I turn on some music and sing along while doing my skincare and brushing my teeth. Then I take my bonnet off, putting my braids into a half up half down hairstyle, lastly fixing my edges.

My plan for today was to ignore the boys and focus on schoolwork but clearly no one is rooting for me, anywhere today. My mother waltzes into my room, at the same time Silas facetimes me. I quickly text him saying I'll call him back.

"Hey mom, what's up?" I try to play it casual, flattening my hoodie.

"I'd like to know what happened last night with Xavier. Whatever you did, you need to fix it. I'm having a late Christmas/early New Years party and he explained to me that he didn't want to make you uncomfortable by coming," she yaps on about me being a young lady that's supposed to respect and serve men.

I yawn and roll my eyes "I wasn't planning on really attending that party, I have schoolwork to finish before I head back. So I'll text him telling him he has nothing to worry about," I explained, thinking that would be the end of it.

"Amelia, you have to make an appearance. I have friends, family and colleagues coming to this event, I won't be embarrassed by my only child not attending in support," she scoffs

"Do I look like I'm prepared for another party? I'm wearing sweats mom, and honestly this almost two weeks has been too much socializing as it is. If im up to it i'll come down for a few minutes to steal food but that's it," I shrug

She clearly doesn't like my answer but settles for it, leaving my room with a sigh.

I think back to what I just said and realized I will not be avoiding Silas or Xavier. I sent a text to Xavier stating that I still feel weird about what he said but that he's welcome to attend the party.

Hours later the party starts and I try my best to continue with my plan. I haven't texted either of them since this morning so I'm doing good so far. I avoided going downstairs the entire night as well, luckily my mother was too busy hosting to bitch about it to me. The rest of the night was relaxing for the most part. All I have to do is pack tomorrow then I'm back to my college oasis.

By the time I finished packing it was 6pm and I was exhausted. I decided to text Silas letting him know he no longer needed to pick me up from the airport the next day:

Me: Hey. I realized asking you to pick me up from the airport is alot so I will uber home instead.

Silas: Well that's stupid.

Silas: I want to see you so I will be there when you land, you already sent your flight info to me.

Okay so that didn't work very well... this man is persistent so I don't even object just leave him on delivered.
