A medium sized box arrived at Namjoon's front door, the doorbell ringing. It was late at night.
Namjoon's parents slept soundly in their room. Namjoon was an ordinary boy, he'd recently turned 18 and was just starting his senior year in high school, with excellent grades but no friends, not a single one. Well, he used to have a best friend, but he moved away last year. Like most teens his age staying up too late to be considered healthy, he was scrolling through TikTok on his phone in the living room. He only stopped when the doorbell rang, standing up to open the door.
Namjoon had his doubts about opening the door, it was well past midnight, who could it be? He opened the door slowly and peeked through the crack between the door and the wall. Nobody was at the door, just the medium sized box on the doorstep. It was silent outside, not even the crickets made noise.
Confused, Namjoon stared down at the box. It was chilly and dark outside, he didn't want something to leap out and grab him, so he dragged the box inside. It was quite heavy, but Namjoon was a strong man who worked out regularly, so he had no problem heaving it into his arms. Closing the door with his foot, he set the box on the couch.
His tired brain wasn't processing much. He gazed down at the box with his sharp emerald dragon eyes for almost an entire minute before finally acting, his long fingers picking at the tape, lips parted and chapped. Then he took his hand back before opening it.
A box from seemingly nobody at 1:00 AM to his house in the middle of nowhere, was it really smart to open it? No. Did that stop Namjoon from opening it? No, no it did not. He peeled the tape back and lifted the cover.
"Holy fuck..." he whispered to himself in the empty living room. Well, almost empty. Inside was a a boy, a real boy. Well, Namjoon didn't really know, he looked too... perfect to be real. Like a doll.
From Namjoon's angle, he could see the pale, porcelain skin of the boy curled up in the box. He was rather small with a slender build, his thin body adorned by a pink babydoll dress, his shoulders wrapped in the puffy sleeves. His face was covered, but Namjoon could see the button nose and pouty lips from under his hair, which was decorated with a small pink bow.
Despite the boy being undeniably beautiful, Namjoon was frightened by the fact there was a literal human (hopefully) delivered to his doorstep in the dead of night. His first instinct was to run upstairs and grab his parents.
"Please don't go there, I could get in trouble."
Yep, Namjoon almost went into cardiac arrest once he heard the soft whisper from up ahead. He slowly looked up to the top of the stairs where the boy was sitting in his pink little dress, clutching his teddy bear in his lap, looking right back at Namjoon with those wide eyes. Namjoon wasn't even sure if the boy was a human, he seemed so... plastic, so fake, so beautiful. Though his gaze was quite creepy.
"H-how did you get there?" Namjoon stammered, mentally cursing himself. He didn't want to look like he was afraid.
The boy only shrugged. It didn't seem like he was moving.
Namjoon looked around awkwardly. What does one do in a situation where there's a random boy in a dress sitting at the top of the staircase in the dead of night after being delivered in a box? "Erm... may I know your name?"
The boy only pointed downstairs to the box he arrived in. Inside was a note. He waited for Namjoon to go, keeping his finger pointed, never blinking once.
"O-oh, of course!"
Namjoon clambered back down the stairs to the couch where the box was. He took the paper, carefully unfolded it, and started reading.
