She approaches the cold glow of the building's sign once more, Otto waits for her again, this time his watch preoccupies him. He looks up and his face lights up when he sees her

"Good to see you've come back!" He says cheerfully, opening the door for her as she approaches. Maggie opens her mouth but Otto interrupts her unknowingly

"I've had a few assistants in the past just do the day one and then I never see them again." She closes her mouth, having her question already answered without even asking. He enters and she takes a step back to give him some room.

"I had a feeling you weren't one to do that." He says with a smile and a wink before beginning to lead her down the hallway.

"I take it you get early starts here, being head butcher and all." She says, keeping her eyes on him as they walk. They reach the break room and he slows to walk next to her and into the locker room

"Sometimes. You caught me being a touch later today though, I still have things to do before we start." He says, passing her when their lockers are in sight. She approaches her wide open locker, keeping her eyes on Otto who's running his fingers through his hair in an attempt to tame it enough for the incoming hair net. She hangs up her bag and sweater. working on her shoes, she spots Otto Switching out his shoes as well. Despite the work shoes being steel-toe boots, she finds his regular shoes to show little difference apart from a smudged dark stain infecting the felt material of them and their well-worn appearance.

"Ready to go?" His question brings her out of her train of thought, and she nods, clumsily shutting her locker. Leading her out into the break room, a man with short spiked hair sits with a heavy looking jacket on the table in front of him. He smiles and lifts his coffee to Otto when he enters.

"Otto, mate! Meat's in early today, fuckin' cold out." Otto glances at his watch and smiles at the man

"Always good to see you early. Carlton, this is Magret the new assistant." Otto gestures to Maggie who smiles politely at him.

"Nice to meet you." Maggie greets.

"I agree. What happened to the last assistant this time?" Carlton asks Otto only to receive a grunt in reply as Otto makes a coffee, his back to them. Carlton turns back to Maggie

"She was a nasty woman, 'bout 35, didn't do shit to help Otto.-" He spoke somewhat fast and Maggie couldn't quite place his accent. Carlton leans forward towards her and starts bringing up his fingers to count them with Maggie noticing his left pinky missing.

"-She didn't wear her hair net and when Otto would tell her to, she just wore it on her head like a hat! Didn't tuck shit! She didn't know her meat types so at least half the stock was labelled wrong ALL the time. She didn't get things off the truck, and she was only there for-! For!" He stumbles over his last point until Otto pipes up

"Five days." He says sitting down a seat away from Carlton at the table.

"Bihah! Five fucking DAYS!" He gestures aggressively at her and she smiles at his eccentric nature. He suddenly calms down a small bit and leans back in his chair, lifting his coffee to his lips.

"I'll admit I wasn't the best driver starting out but I at least did things. Now I'm a pro, best in the business." He sips his coffee, testing its warmth.

"You wear sunglasses when you drive at night." Otto chuckles.

"I don't remember asking about that." Carlton quips through a scowl that paints a smug smile on Otto's face. A brief moment of quiet passes as Otto compares his watch to the clock in the room, causing Carlton to look at the clock too and his eyes widen
