When Thomas came around to Brendam Docks, his mind was still racing with thoughts. Who can blame him? No one had seen giant footprints before, not even Edward, and he's been on Sodor longer than anyone.
The same can be said about James, but he prefers to convince everyone that he's younger, like Percy or Thomas. Even Cranky teased about James being old, not that the crane was afraid to tease others.
"You seem to be in a haze," Porter chugs towards Thomas, "Usually, Percy or James would be so afraid of the dark. It's not you to be so frightened, huh?"
Thomas blinked. "Yeah, yeah. But, do you know of any Monsters on Sodor?"
Porter looked intrigued. "Monsters?" He said. "I—I don't know, really. I'd ask one of the older engines, like Edward. He's been on this island longer than any of us."
"Or James," Cranky slowly turns over to them, laughing, "but I doubt he'll say anything."
"Have you told anyone else?" Porter asks Thomas, his curiosity turning into a grin.
"Not yet," he looks down, "Percy would get scared beyond belief."
"Eh, he'd get over it eventually," Cranky rolls his eyes, "You can't be scared of something that's not real forever, can you?"
"You know how Edward is about secrets," Porter points out, "God, you'd never hear the end of what his lecture is about!"
Thomas chuckled. "Okay, I'll head on back to the sheds." After he was coupled up with some goods cars, Thomas set off back to shunting yard.
