I just started to read Shadow Slave and decided to try writing with 3rd person. Tell me if you prefer this or the character's pov as I'll plan on writing my own novel in the future.
After all, getting people's opinions first is much better than just deciding on your own.
On the top of a small inactive volcano, an almost 3 meter tall porcelain white dragon landed inside its crater. The dragon's dark obsidian claws burrowed to the ground as it landed.
Behind one of its front limbs, a small cute creature emerged. Its little yellow reptilian eyes wandered around as she surveyed the foreign place.
An almost ethereal glow emanated from the white dragon as it slowly subsided, revealing a boy who looked a little like a 5 year old kid.
The kid dropped his backpack on the ground and picked up the small dragon and tucked it with one arm between his arms and chest.
"Sylv, we're going to live here for a while."
The boy said, looking at the crater. The crater that's supposed to be filled with volcanic ash and debris is now an ecosystem with a lot of vegetation.
"I'll build a house later so I'll plan it right now. Why not play around a bit?"
"nu!"
The little dragon said mentally as she ran away and started to play with the grass.
"hmmm..."
Letting Sylvie play around, Arthur's eyes wandered, finding a suitable place to build a simple cabin.
Letting out a sigh, he walked a few meters away from Sylvie while dragging his backpack given by the Eraliths and erected 8 pillars of earth. The pillars are all 3 meters in height, and all of it if viewed at the top is shaped like a large letter L.
"This should do it but earth as a roof will end up disintegrating after some time."
He mumbled to himself as he then conjured walls, connecting the 8 pillars. The pillars that looked nothing like a house are now starting to look like how it's supposed to be.
'This would've been better if I could manipulate wood.'
Arthur grimaced, he might be an anomaly as most Asura can only use pure mana and he himself is using elements that are only available for the lessers, but he is unable to learn the elements that the other races specialize in.
Arthur thought that it may be cause of his stay in the cave with his mother. Elves and Dwarves are said to be able to control their unique elements because of their close relationship with nature, which Arthur clearly doesn't have as he's stuck in the cave from the day he hatched.
“This sucks but... can't help it.”
He sighed and turned around to see his little sister. Sylvie is still there playing, but she is far from where Arthur left her.
“Oh! Almost forgot”
He said as he snapped his fingers. The earth cabin — that still does not look like a proper cabin — turned dark as Arthur used water mana to make it into a clay. Then he snapped his fingers again and the clay cabin hardened.
After this, Arthur walked towards the wall of the crater where Sylvie is currently playing. He then saw a considerable amount of giant rocks bigger than the earthen cabin he just made.
“Sylvie! get down!”
Arthur shouted, raising both of his arms up in the air gesturing Sylvie that he is going to catch here.
