I'm Rain & this is my story.
PADOGAN.
Padogan is the kingdom I was shipped to as a child & sold off as a slave to a noble family, the Raju's. Unlike my captors the Raju's treated me with decency, I was a slave but they never once hit or beat me & my task was quite an easy one, lady Chloe Raju, the daughter & only child of the Raju's family was entrusted to my care.
Another morning came & the sky opened up in blue with the grace of fluffy white clouds. On getting up the first thing that popped in my head was lady Chloe's final request before going to bed. Rushing down to the kitchen I had already prepared the ingredients for her request the night before so all I had to do was cook. Making Pollock soup for the first with the recipe I had learned from lady Chloe's mom was interesting. After a short period of time the soup was ready. I made the soup using dried pollack fish, minced garlic, a teaspoon of sesame oil, some water, a tiny bit of salt, two large eggs which I wished I had eaten rather than use them to make the soup, I did as well add some scallions & freshly grounded black pepper. I was on my way out of the kitchen to lady Chloe's room when she popped out of nowhere & said, "good morning Rain".
I replied & said, "good morning Lady Chloe", Lady Chloe looked at me & smiled at the greeting I had extended then said, "I'll love to have the Pollock soup right here in the kitchen", I could not really express how I felt after she said that but still I replied with a straight face, "uhm ok", I dropped the tray carrying the plate of hot Pollock soup on an empty working table in the kitchen & adjusted a stool for lady Chloe.
Lady Chloe walked to the table, picked up the tea spoon, dipped it into the soup & said, "care for a bite?", Lady Chloe stretched out her hand in attempt to feed me but I was always way too cautious to let such happen, "lady Chloe, forgive my disobedience but I can not eat from your plate", I said.
"Lady Chloe...! lady Chloe...! lady Chloe...! we are friends Rain & I know I clearly told you whenever we are alone it's just Chloe for you", lady Chloe had said in a short temper.
"I know that lady Ch...", making the mistake of almost addressing her as lady Chloe again almost caused an incident which I couldn't afford therefore I dropped the honorifics & played by her rules even though It sounded ridiculous to me.
"Chloe, it's kinda hard calling you that but I'll try ok", I said whilst my inside burned up cause I felt really awkward calling lady Chloe by her name & with no formalities. Moments later lady Chloe had her Pollock soup but only after I had taken the first bite, she went ahead to order me to grab a cutlery & join her but I was saved by lady Chloe's mom, lady Sasha, who came to the kitchen in search of lady Chloe.
Lady Sasha & lady Chloe both left the kitchen in each other's hands after lady Chloe's was done with her meal. That day was the coronation of the new King & the Raju's were expected to be at the palace like every other noble family for the coronation. As usual I was in charge of lady Chloe's outfit & mine, which should be normal. Lady Chloe's outfit was a beautiful mixture of silver & gold lining embedded on a straight up yellow silk gown, on her neck was a pretty milkish fluffy haired scarf which matched with her heels, gloves & turban, her outfit was certainly exhilarating. I on the other hand wore something simple, well I could not really dress up much seeing how I was a slave but the Raju's still did make sure I looked like a respectable human by giving me good & clean cloths.
PADOGAN: THE PALACE.
The palace, it was a space I had never seen the inside of, but today that all changes. I have heard stories of the beauty the palace posseses, you should see how every year the new recruits who had just joined royal guard talked about how astonishing it looks, it really must be ravishingly beautiful.
Moments later the name of the Raju's family was announced & they were to head into the palace. Sir & lady Raju both went in first after which lady Chloe followed with me as her escort but I was stopped at the entrance by the palace guards as soon as lady Chloe stepped in, at first I had thought I did something wrong but only for the conclusion to be that a slave has no right to be seen in the palace during the king coronation hence I was asked to wait out, lady Sasha had seen this happen & her facial expression was indeed revolting. The astonishing looking lady Sasha Raju walked out the palace, walked me down the stairs with her arm over my shoulders & whilst we walked she said, "do not be mad my dear, just hang around ok, as soon as we are done here we all get to go home ok", it was pleasing to see someone actually cared.
Padogan, a kingdom with conducts that all seem like gibberish to me. I arrived in Padogan when I was only thirteen & was immediately sold to the Raju's, ever since then they have been my family. Whilst I waited I looked for a quiet & empty space & when I got one I resumed my Kung Fu training. No one knew I was a martial artist, not even the Raju's. Ever since I came to Padogan I kept every detail of my past a secret, even the name I answer to now was given to me by lady Chloe when I joined the Raju's family, back then lady Chloe was only fourteen.
Hours passed & I bored out of my mind training for so long. I fell to the floor looking at the blue sky, it was rather less cloudy that day. Looking up & seeing birds fly I wished I was one, all wild & free to roam the great beyond. Whilst I stared into the sky dreaming of a day I might or might never see I saw something, at first it appeared as a tiny dot but then it grew in size & it kept on growing. It took me about thirty seconds to realize that something was coming down from the sky, but I thought I was hallucinating because at the time I knew a flying vessel did not exist, not in Padogan, not in the World. We practically travelled on horses.
The mothership, it was the most scary yet fascinating thing I had ever seen, it came in from the sky & when it got to at about one hundred stories from the floor it stopped descending & froze in the middle of the air, it looked like a giant metallic flying bird. The royal guards had wasted no time to report this first sighting, hence the King & his subjects all came outside. Witnessing this was a throat-cutter, the king's reaction when he saw the mothership was to die for, I literally saw him get scared on his coronation day, all hail the King. While the king & his subjects stared into the unknown, the mothership opened a wild shutter & deployed a lot of smaller ships compared to the mothership, & yes, they could all levitate as well.
The firsts of the smaller ships to land in Padogan brought an army, the strangers were very much different from we humans, they looked nothing like us & definitely had four arms. There was no diplomacy in their approach, they wanted our world & were ready to die & kill for it. The massacre had started all around in Padogan but the palace was still safe & secure. Meanwhile, the King ordered his battalion to go into battle, save who they can & kill the strangers which was rather absurd due to the artillery they were equipped with.
The palace was well guarded & from it's high ground one could see the whole of Padogan, therefore I watched. Strategically the strangers took on the whole of Padogan before making their way to the palace, their attack was flawless, brutal & swift, it did seem like they had been watching us for years because their attacking formation was definitely ready for whatever we had to throw at them.
In the battle of the best the Padogan's warriors were bested on a scale of zero to ten & eventually the strangers made their way to the palace. The attack on the palace was bad, I had ran into the palace when I saw the strangers closing in on the palace & made my way to the Raju's. Lady Chloe & I sat together holding hands with our fingers locked, being that close to lady Chloe I could feel her fear up close, it could probably challenge the raging Sun. The palace was filled up with different classes of individual, the royal guards, the nobles, the palace maids et cetera. Whilst we all waited knowing death was a few steps away an unknown weapon was used to vaporize the palace door. A swarm of the strangers rushed in & with their long ranged weapons they tore apart the royal guards in a jiffy, moments later they started killing anyone they found & with the chaos acting as a fog I was about to find a way out the palace & survive this when lady Sasha held my hand & begged me to take lady Chloe with me, after which she said, "I see you every night practicing in the barn, I know you are a martial artist Rain, please I beg of you, keep my daughter safe, this is the last request of a dying mother". I could have said no but I did not cause the Raju's were always real to me. I unlocked my left hand from that of lady Chloe's right hand & told her to stay low after which I pulled her towards my direction. At first she wouldn't follow my lead, lady Chloe couldn't bring herself to leave her parents behind & I couldn't bring myself to snap her out of it because it was clear that time was of the essence if we were to make it out of there alive so I hit her pretty hard on her neck to put some sleep in her.
"My lady, I need a distraction", I said to lady Sasha after which I carried lady Chloe on my back awaiting for a distraction. Lady Chloe's mom & dad stared into each other's eyes & had a short emotional kiss then quickly got off the floor & made a run towards the other side of the palace on the top of their voices, this drew the attention of the strangers & I used the few seconds they bought us with their lives to escape the first wave of the strangers.
