Sneaking candy

Again I'm still new to writing I started writing back in 2022 until 2023 but then stopped I only recently started writing again please don't be to hard on me :)

Maya walked downstairs and into the kitchen after waking up from hearing something downstairs maya is a light sleeper so she wakes up at every little sound maya walked in the kitchen smiling at the sight of her and carina's six year old daughter standing on a chair that was in front of the counter Hailey standing on the counter the cupboard where they keep candy inside open and Hailey looking through it

"And what do you think you're doing there missy"

Maya said walking over to her Hailey quickly closing the cupboard letting the chocolate bar she was holding fall on the ground

"Nothing mommy"

Hailey said smiling big maya knew that smile it was the smile Hailey gave when she was hiding something or did something she wasn't supposed to

"Aha and what is that"

Maya asked picking the chocolate bar up looking in Hailey's face

"Uh I don't know how it got there mommy oh mommy do you know how much I love you and how beautiful you are and-"

Maya cut her of chuckling

"You don't need to be like that I know you're tactics baby and you were definitely trying to sneak candy"

"No mommy I would never"

"The chocolate bar says other things okay how about that I'll let you eat one chocolate bar but no more and mama can't know its our little secret"

"Okay mommy thank you and I won't tell mama"

May nood kissing her forehead and giving her the chocolate bar Hailey took it and opened it starting to eat it maya put the chair away then picked Hailey up on her hip walking upstairs in the bathroom she set Hailey down on the counter next to the sink getting her toothbrush ready

"So can you tell me why you tried stealing candy?"

Maya asked putting toothpaste on Hailey's toothbrush holding the toothbrush in her hand

"Mama didn't allow me candy cause I did some things"

Hailey said looking at the ground

"And what are these things"

Hailey groaned but started telling anyway

"Because I ripped my barbie out of my brother's hand making him cry but I didn't allow him to take my barbie it's mine"

"OH Hailey you have to understand that he's younger than you he's only one and you're already six you're the big sister and he doesn't really know yet how to ask for things so he just takes it how about next time he takes you're things you remind him Gently that it's yours and that you want it back but no ripping things out his hands you wouldn't like either if I ripped your barbie out you're hands right?"

Hailey shook her head and gave a nood

"Okay mommy I remember him next time and if he doesn't give me my toy I offer him one of his toys"

"Yes exactly princess and now brush your teeth please"

Maya said giving her her toothbrush Hailey took it starting to brush her teeth maya watched her after a few minutes Hailey finished brushing her teeth rinsing her mouth out maya put her toothbrush away picking her up

"Now let's go to bed alright"

Maya said carrying Hailey to her room she placed her in her bed tucking her in she placed a kiss on her forehead smiling

"Good night princess I love you"

"Good night mommy love you too"

Maya watched her a few more minutes until Hailey was asleep maya then got up walking out her leaving the door open a little
