A/n: Shorter chapter... Might as well double update.
Families were chatting after the match. Soon Todoroki walked in with his hands shoved in his pockets. Not looking at his family or anyone else.
Then Midoriya did, scratching the back of his neck nervously as his friends ran up to congratulate him.
Kira and Iida were way behind them. Iida stuck his head in the room. "Mr Aizawa... Um... We have a situation?" He whispered politely. Glancing over at his family briefly. His brother gave him a supportive thumbs up and his mother smiled broadly at him.
"Is what Kira said true... Would they really be proud no matter what?"
"Of course it's true. You can hear my mind, isn't that proof enough? Your family adores you."
Aizawa sighed and walked after them. Recovery girl trailing after him.
Kira was sitting in a chair in the hallway, a paper cup of water in her hand. "My quirk's gone haywire." She said, waving at Aizawa.
"I can see that. What happened?" Her teacher asked, stopping in front of her.
Recovery girl stood beside her, lifting her arms and looking her wounds. But she wasn't that bad off, so she moved onto Iida. Grabbing his head and kissing him on the nose without much warning.
"I don't know. One second Iida bitch slaps me, and the next I can see through his face and he can hear my thoughts." Kira explained.
"You can read her mind?" Aizawa asked Iida, who rubbed his newly healed nose.
"It seems I can." He nodded.
"My quirk is super connected with him right now. I can like... Feel his heart beating." Kira said, she sounded very excited. Now that she wasn't focused on fighting the idea of her quirk advancing was actually kinda cool. She didn't know why she had been so nervous about it.
"Alright. So nothing happened? Nothing different?" Aizawa asked. "I should call the doctor... Being able to see through his eyes... Hear his heart. It's amazing. But we need to know how it was activated."
"Not really." Kira shrugged. "Nothing I noticed."
Aizawa looked at her, then noticed something on her cheek. He pointed at it. "Are you bleeding?" He asked her.
She followed his gaze with her hand.
"It's not hers, unless she rubbed it on. There's no skin broken." Recovery girl answered for her.
There was a splotch of dried blood on her cheek and a thin trail of it leading to the corner of her lips.
"DNA..." Aizawa thought. Recovery girl handed her a wet wipe. "You say physical contact heightens your quirk right?" He asked.
"Yes." Kira nodded. "What? You think I accidentally ate his blood? And his DNA is keeping us connected?"
"It's possible. You possibly swallowed a part of his body, it might've somehow strengthened your quirk."
"I'm sorry... But I have to test something."
Aizawa stood up. He activated his quirk staring at Kira.On reflex her body tightened. Hands gripping the arms of the chair underneath her. Her eyes returned to normal and she grunted.
She was trying her best to hide it, but she was obviously very uncomfortable. Aizawa never used his quirk of her. Because he knew how much she hated it.
Everything went quiet and she felt panic stab her chest. She always talked and acted like she hated her quirk, but when it was ripped away her body went into an extreme panic mode.
She was staring at Aizawa but couldn't hear anything. She could see him but there wasn't even a bit of static coming from his brain. She could see Iida. But she couldn't sense him.
"They're dead."
Her mind panicked. Logically she knew they weren't dead.
But the only other time when she felt this sensation, the only time when she could hear a mind clearly and then it disappeared...
Was when someone died.
Aizawa had first used his quirk on her when she was a kid. He did it once and then never again. He had been with her in the hospital, she was holding her head and telling him her quirk gave her headaches.
So he used his quirk on her, hoping to give her a little bit of peace.
She was thrown into a massive panic attack. She was certain he was dead. That everyone in the hospital has died. With her eyes closed she didn't know it wasn't true.
Aizawa had felt massive guilt over what had happened.
Then it came back. Activity from both their minds she felt like someone suddenly hit her in the back of the neck. But she welcomed the feeling.
The buzz of their minds, their thoughts and emotions. She could even feel the people down the hall as they chatted and waited for Aizawa to come back and continue training.
Her quirk had been gone for two seconds.
Aizawa made sure it wasn't any longer than necessary. But he could still see the panic in her eyes the moment her quirk was taken.
"I'm sorry." He apologized, genuinely.
Kira rubbed her eyes and shook her head. "It's fine, I'm fine." She whispered.
Iida watched with a small frown, not sure what had caused her sudden panic. Then just like in training her thoughts invaded his mind. "It's not fine... No he didn't do anything wrong. You're okay, everyone is okay. It's just a quirk. They're fine."
Her eyes flickered red again.
"I can hear her still." Iida mumbled. Kira really wasn't fine. He didn't knew what the problem was but he wanted to fix it. He understood the girl way more than he used too. And hearing her thoughts as she tried to keep herself from panicking made him feel horrible.
He put a hand on her shoulder.
"It reactivated after I shut off your quirk. So that means there is something still causing it." Aizawa said, thinking. He'd expected two different outcomes.
Either after shutting down her quirk returned like normal.
Or it returned like this.
The first one would mean you quirk was a one touch type of thing. Like Monoma.
If Monoma touched someone and took their quirk. When Aizawa used his own he would lose their quirk when he got his own back.
But that didn't happen, so there was something going on that still kept their connection.
"His blood is still in my system." Kira said, taking a deep breath. "It reactivated because it's still in my body."
"You sure?" Aizawa asked.
Kira scoffed. "No, I'm just running with your blood theory." She said with a shrug.
"Alright sweetie." Recovery girl stepped forward. "Come on to my office, I can give you something." She said kindly.
"Just get ready to barf."
