"Kanan, we've got a briefing." Hera says.
I move my head down. The winds are silent. I can feel her... emotions bouncing off of me.
"Hmh." I say.
"You're not coming, are you?" Hera asks.
"Yes." I nod.
I hear her sit down beside me. Her breath is calm yet robust. I hear her heartbeat even. So powerful. So strong. So... beautiful. She takes my hand. I move my head to her. I know. Her thoughts are sinking. Like a stone in the river.
"You know, it wasn't your fault he's disappeared." She says.
"You make it sound like he's dead." I say.
"Well... there's been no sign of him for weeks." She says.
"I'm not giving up on him yet." I say.
"I know. I know. I know I shouldn't but... it's hard." She says.
"I know." I sigh.
"I mean we checked that planet over and over again." She says.
"He could be on a different one. The galaxy is full of surprises." I say.
"Yeah." She leans on my shoulder.
"I have to have hope Hera. I can't fail him." I say.
"I know... I don't want to fail him either." She says.
