Dean's POV
"Fuck him!" I grabbed a beer bottle and threw it across the room, causing it to shatter everywhere.
"Speak on it," Justin closed his eyes.
He was crossed, he probably wasn't even listening. But I didn't care, someone needed to know. I tried to sleep off the rage I felt, but it wasn't going away. It was morning now.
"I can see it in his eyes that he's looking down on me. He always has," I picked up another joint and lit it.
My phone started ringing. I pulled it out. Shit. I put my hand over Justin's mouth and answered. He opened his eyes and took a long hit from the joint in between my fingers.
"Hey mom!" I said.
"Where are you? The school called and told me you skipped first period," she asked.
"I stopped by Justin's for some...medicine. I had a pounding headache since this morning," I started to stand up, praying to God I wasn't slurring.
"Okay...get to school. Now," she hung up.
I put my phone back in my pocket. I snatched the joint from his mouth.
"I almost finished it!" Justin started coughing.
I rolled my eyes and closed his door behind me. I took a deep breath and let it out, expecting to feel a little more down to Earth. It didn't work. I looked down and noticed how I felt as if I was floating. Hopefully I'm not floating by the time I get there. I followed a crack in the sidewalk that would lead me all the way there. I tried my hardest to focus, but then my mind would wander again. I still hate him. I walked and walked, my vision still not clearing up that much. I finally came to the gates of the school. Of course they had to be locked. I sighed and started climbing the fence, once I got to the top I felt the wind on my face. It made me feel alive, so alive in fact, I ended up letting go of the fence and fell over 8 feet to the ground. I groaned from pain, and I tried to prop myself up. I heard my friends yelling for me and running towards me. Bad news is, I was still floating. They grabbed my arms and pulled me up.
"What happened man? Jesus," one asked.
"Nothing I just overslept," I replied, brushing myself off.
My vision was still off, but I could see that we were in between periods. Everyone was walking to their next one. I started walking with my friends trailing behind me. I seen a figure making its way to me, she was moving fast. Dahlia.
"Dean!" She made it to me and threw her arms around me.
She's a hugger. I hugged her back, not as hard as she was squeezing me.
"What's this?" I asked.
"I just...thought you might have needed one," she looked up at me.
"Oh," I slowly let her go.
"You didn't answer any of my texts...I thought something might have been wrong," she crossed her arms.
I sensed my friends' stare on my back. She had these doe eyes that were making my heart race. I coughed and looked away.
"I'm okay. Thanks Dahlia," I mumbled.
She tilted her head at me, "Where have you been?"
"You giving an interrogation or what?" One of my friends called out.
I rolled my eyes, "My phone just died, I'll see your messages when I get home."
She never broke eye contact with me, searching for something. You're trying to see me. She gave me a sigh and walked away from me. I stared at the ground, damn, I needed to cut back. I continued to walk, but then she whipped around and gave me an envelope. I blinked at it.
