PROLOGUE!
Dear Amelia Howard,
It is our pleasure to invite you to join our current school year at On Beat Studio in Buenos Aires, Argentina. A scholarship has been granted for you attend the current year.Pablo Galindo,
Director of On Beat Studio.Amelia screamed as she read the email on her phone. Her father, Michael, rushed into the hallway with a kitchen knife in his hand. His apron was covered in flour. Her sister, Morgan, followed behind except she had a hair dryer in her hand. She glanced around, there was no sign of immediate danger, so she set the dryer on the nearest surface. Michael set the knife beside the hairdryer.
"Why are you screaming? Did One Direction announce a reunion tour?" Morgan asked.
"It hurts me to say no," Amelia said quickly. "No—I got an email from that school in Argentina. The one music school that produces a lot of singers, producers and dancers. I sent in an audition over the computer with Miss Sanchez's help, and they just emailed me and I was accepted and I got a scholarship to cover the entire tuition since it's late in the year."
"What school in Argentina?" Michael questioned. "When did you mention this? Does your mother know? Did I know?"
"I've mentioned it once before— it's the same school that León attends," Amelia admitted, a pale blush rushed to her cheeks. "But that's not why I auditioned— don't give me that look, Morgan. I've been really thinking of what I want to do with my life, I'm eighteen and I really like making music and this school is one of the best. And it's just for a year, if I don't like it, I'll come back and attend the community college, get a business degree and become a realtor like mom. But this— this is my dream."
"And she wants to see León," Morgan added.
"It's not about León. He's a student there, but it's a really great school. I won't just be focusing on my vocals or writing, I'll be practicing any instrument, dancing, producing music, learning how to do shows— the music, lights, everything."
"I'm not going to make the decision until we all discuss it. Your mother will be home later, it's a family decision. You're legally an adult, but you'd be moving across a different hemisphere. I could take a leave of absence from work, but again, we'll make this decision as a family."
🎹
"If you're really set on this decision, we'll let you attend the school. Your father will be helping you for the first week, but he can only take leave for so long. We'll start looking for apartments for you, pre-furnished and a year long lease. But at any moment, where you feel like you don't want to be there, you take the first flight home," Amelia's mother, Camille, said.
"Really?" Amelia smiled.
"You're an adult, you can make these decisions yourself, but we're your parents and we want to be your biggest supporters. You deserve to follow your dreams, my love."
Amelia squealed and hugged her parents. "You guys are the best parents ever. I have to pack, oh my god. Or should I say, dios mío. I need to start practicing my Spanish. Necesito practicar mi español," Amelia took off towards her bedroom.
"You know she's doing this to see León. She finally got the courage to tell him how she feels," Morgan stated. "She got contacts and her braces are off. She's a ten out of ten and can get any guy she wants and she knows it."
"He's never cared about her looks, and if she's doing it for him, let her. They're made for each other," Camille told her oldest daughter. "And knowing that León is there makes it easier for us. He'd never let anything bad happen to her."
