Amelia looked in the mirror after she buzzed León in. She pushed her hair behind her ears, before moving it behind her back then over her shoulders again. She played with the idea of using a hair clip, but she couldn't remember where she put it. Then there was a knock on the door.

She ran her fingers through her hair one last time before opening the door.

"I just need to get my shoes and my bag, it won't take long," Amelia said. Her eyes looked down at her feet, she was wearing mismatched socks. She didn't like matching socks.

"You don't need to rush, the first class isn't for another forty minutes," León stated. "It takes like fifteen to get to the studio from here."

"If there's no rush, do you want anything to eat or drink? My dad stocked the entire pantry, fridge and freezer before he left," Amelia said as she led him into the kitchen. "It's all already made food, I don't think he trusts me enough to cook. I think his chef genes skipped me."

"I don't either, do you remember what happened the last time we saw each other? The cookies were so burnt, even Cookie Monster wouldn't have eaten them," León joked.

"Excuse you, Cookie Monster likes every type of cookie and would have appreciated them if we hadn't thrown them away."

"It was either throw them away or give them to the hockey arena to use as pucks," León deadpanned.

"You still ate one," Amelia commented. "And it wasn't my fault they burned. You're the one who forgot to put the timer on for fifteen hours." León raised his hands in defense and laughed.

Amelia loved León's smile, and his laugh was music to her ears. Before she was caught staring and blushing, she went to find her shoes.

"Your parents actually let you move her by yourself?" León questioned as Amelia walked back into the kitchen area. "If anything, I would've thought Morgan would be the first one to move out."

"Morgan move out?" Amelia laughed. "She's fine right where she is, has no problem staying at home, especially since she moved into the pool house after the renovations. And I didn't have to convince my parents much. And I'm sure they're going to have ton of business here for the next year. Morgan's already planning a weeklong trip here."

León nodded. "Today's your first full day of classes, are you nervous?"

"If I act confident, I won't be nervous," Amelia responded.

"You don't have to be nervous, Millie. And besides, I'll be in most of your classes, I made sure of it," León said. Amelia's heart did a flip— a back handspring, a round off, all the other flips that cheerleaders do. "And you'll fit right in with everyone."

🎹

Amelia wasn't nervous, León's friends were welcoming. But she avoided everyone when she was alone. It wasn't a mystery that León and Amelia had history, except no one knew the history, and speculations came up and everyone believes it.

"Amelia, right?" A redhead walked up to the brunette who was getting a drink. "I'm Camila. I didn't get a chance to introduce myself yesterday."

"Hi, Camila," Amelia responded taking a sip from her cup. She had noticed Camila had been talking to Francesca and Violetta before walking up to her. "And you got my name right."

"You're from Los Angeles?"

"Yeah, sort of," Amelia responded. "We actually live in Malibu," she corrected herself.

"That's cool. So do you have like the beach in your backyard?"

"You're not going to ask me about León?" Amelia asked, she was waiting for that question as Francesca and Violetta were staring at the two girls as they talked.

"I wasn't going to ask about that yet," Camila stated.

"Look, Camila. I must've arrived at a weird time since León and his ex just recently broke up, am I right? I didn't come here to cause any problems. I came here for this school. I'm actually just as talented as everyone else here, which is why I was able to come in so late in the term. Yes, I know León, but he and I are friends and we've been friends since before we could talk. My mother was pregnant with my sister at his parents' wedding," Amelia said, over explaining. "I think your friends are calling you over," Amelia motioned to Violetta and Francesca who had looked away once Amelia turned towards them.

"Well, it's just that Vilu still has feelings for León and then you showed up yesterday and she's freaking out because you're someone who's really pretty and León was very happy to see you," Camila rambled. "You do seem really cool, and the way you spoke to Ludmila was like— no one really does that to her when they first meet her."

"I've dealt with mean girls in the past, I can hold my own," Amelia stated. "And to answer why León was happy, our summer vacations haven't lined up for the past three years. We haven't seen each other in years since he joined the studio."

"Where'd you hear about the studio?" Camila questioned.

"A music teacher at my school told me about it," Amelia admitted. "She really fought for me to get a spot in this program. If I went to college, I wouldn't be in music, it'd be a minor, but not what I would do."

"We were going to get lunch, would you want to join us?" Camila asked. "From what we've talked about, I'll tell Vilu that you're not a threat to her."
