Khalil and her brother walked home. Kaser was on his phone while khalil was staring at the ground. the two of them walking in comfortable silence.

"Okay, spill it out." Kaser spoke and turned to his sister.
"what do you mean?" Khalil asked, confused.

"you know what i mean." Kaser glared. Khalil sighed and stared at the sky
"it happened again."

Kaser stared at his sister in disbelief.
"i thought you escaped it. don't tell me someone opened the rift again."

"possibly. i mean.. why would i return if it was closed." Khalil spoke, looking down.
"but, why am i not experiencing it?" Kaser spoke, thinking.

"probably because im the one who experienced it first." Khalil frowned. Kaser stared at his sister and frowned.

"hey. cheer up.. I'll do everything i can to help, okay? you're not in this alone." kaser smiled, putting a hand on khalil's shoulder.

"thanks kas," Khalil smiled at her brother.
"no problem, lil." Kaser ruffled her hair and snickered.

"enough. you're going to burn the chicken" Khalil swatted her brother as she turned the stove off.

"Aww, but its what the video told me to do!" kaser whined.

"not everything you see online is true. you'll end up burning our house if i let you handle my chicken" Khalil glared as she swatted her brother again when he tried to turn the stove on.

"as if you're a kitchen master!" Kaser smacked her head.
"you little-"

"that's enough kids, I'll handle that" Their mother interrupted the sibling's quarrel and shoo'd them out.

The siblings continued bickering. Kaser testing khalil's patience as she stared at him, her eye twitching. she was about to pounce on him until there was a knock on the door.

"those are probably our guests." Their mother spoke from the kitchen.

Khalil walked over and opened the door. her eyes widen, surprised to see ashlyn.

"ash? what are you doing here?" Khalil asked as she stepped aside, letting ashlyn in. khalil also noticed ashlyn's parents trailing behind.
