"Morning, Jennie!" Adie called out joyfully as she ran towards me from her room while I was making breakfast in the kitchen. Before she could reach me, I gestured for her to be quiet by putting my finger to my lips, which made her stopped in confused. Then, I pointed towards the living room and the couch where Charles was sleeping peacefully.
"Shhh... Charles is sleeping," I said with a smile, walking towards her as she covered her wide-open mouth in disbelief.
"Is that Ferrari Charlie?" she asked in a whisper, to which I nodded in agreement. "How did he get here?" she asked again. Before I answered her question, I glanced over at Charles who is still sleeping peacefully on the couch.
"I think he's having a rough time," I replied, looking at her as she curiously observed the couch. "Come on... let's take a shower. We need to get ready for school," I said, gently taking her hand and walking towards the bathroom together. After spending the holidays, we all had to prepare for our workdays. "If you finish your shower, just call me, okay?" I said gently to Adie before she stepped into the bathroom. Then, I quickly returned to the kitchen to continue preparing breakfast.
While I was busy in the kitchen, I heard a groggy voice coming from the living room.
"What time is it?" Charles asked in a groggy voice from his sleepy which making me let out a small giggle before answering.
"It's nearly 7 am," I replied from the kitchen. As soon as I said that, he swiftly stood up from the couch and his eyes goes widen.
"Is it already morning?" he asked again.
"Yeah, it's already morning, Mr. Charles Leclerc," I said, pausing and turning my head towards him with a laugh. "Good morning," I added between my laughs again which make him chuckled along with me.
"I don't even remember how I fell asleep last night," he said, walking towards the kitchen. "But to be honest, I really had a good sleep last night. I haven't slept this well in a while," he continued as he stepped into the kitchen.
"Well, I'm really glad to hear that, and also I made a..." Before I could finish my sentence, my words were cut off by the sudden closeness between us. As I was about to turn towards the kitchen table, he stood behind me, hovering over my body, with my face just a few inches from his chest.
"Oh, sorry. May I have a glass from the cupboard?" he asked in a whisper, looking into my eyes. As soon as our eyes locked into each other all of my flutter butterflies pop up into my stomach and I swallowed the nervousness into my throat.
"Of course... you... you can," I swiftly answered by quickly avoiding his gaze. It seemed like he recognized my flutter and which made him chuckle.
"Thank you for the glass," he said between chuckles while I was trying to calm down the butterflies in my stomach. I could feel his eyes on me as I preparing breakfast on the plates. After a moment later, he called out my name which make me flinch a little at his called out and slowly turn towards him.
"Jen," he called out.
"Yeah..." I replied and turn towards him. He took a sip of water before starting the conversation.
"I... I have something to tell you," he paused and put down his glass on the kitchen counter. "It's about... I mean, it might seem a bit weird and maybe also sudden, but..." He paused again and looked at me. It seemed like he had something important to say since he was choosing his words carefully.
"Are you okay, Charles?" I asked softly.
"Yeah... I'm fine. I just..." he let out a small sigh of nervousness and looked around the kitchen to avoid my gaze, which made me more curious and worried about him. After a few moments, he gathered himself and continued.
