The Storm Inside My Heart

Chapter 1: The same.

The lightning hit the ground, the thunder paired with it hitting my eardrums a second after.
I hate storms. Too loud. Too overwhelming. I couldn't sleep, my thoughts were louder than the thunder. My eyes were focused on the lightning outside. I wasn't even aware of his arms around my waist.
Eventually, I fell asleep. I couldn't tell you the time, though.
I woke up around 8:00 A.M., much earlier than I normally wake up. His arms were still around my waist. He hadn't done that in a while. I went to the bathroom to brush my teeth and then went downstairs to the kitchen.
I started cooking breakfast. Waffles, his favorite.
I never really cared much for breakfast, he likes it because it gives him energy.
"What's for breakfast?" He asked while coming down the stairs.  I showed him a plate of waffles I made. He put a smile on his face. I returned one back.

After eating breakfast, we watched some T.V. before he had to go to work. It's lonely when he's gone. I never really needed to clean because the house was already neat. My friends were working, so I couldn't hang out with them. So, I took a nap.

When I woke up and went downstairs, I saw that he brought home pizza. We ate together in silence. He usually would always tell me about his day, but today he seemed...off. Like something was bothering him. I couldn't find it in me to ask him, though.
After eating, I took a shower. When I got out, I found him sleeping on our bed. I laid down next to him. It was pouring rain outside.
I hate the rain.

He always used to tell me, "tomorrow's another day."  I stopped believing that when everyday was the same.
Eat, T.V., Sleep, Eat, Shower, Sleep.
Every day.
I know I could've changed it up, but something in me told me not to. He always told me I had a thing about routines. When something becomes normal, I don't want to change it because I'm so used to it.
'It overwhelms you,' as he used to say.

I wonder if anything would've changed if I had just changed up my routine every once in a while?
