AN: I want to know - how many of you who are reading this book (grateful to each and every one of you) have fallen in love before/are in love now? I want to know how you would describe it, say in a sentence or so. My experience with love is a bit storybook but it's what I have to work with - for me, falling in love was a very slow burn but afterwards like you're falling off a cliff, all of a sudden and in a very intense manner

I don't know, I'm curious to see what you guys feel/felt in the past!

Iris

I sighed and closed the door to my hotel room. It had been a tiring few days and I was glad we were due to fly back tomorrow.

Dad and I had come for one of my mom's cousin's wedding. We usually avoid these all together ever since she left us and passed away in an accident soon after that, but Aunt Grace was someone I loved dearly (probably the only person in her family I liked) and I felt I owed it to her to come here. The wedding was exhausting because of the many snide comments and covered-up insults we usually get from some members of the family.

As usual, my mind wandered to Reece and I thought about what he must be doing as I removed my watch and earrings, back to my room after the reception. I hadn't seen Reece for 3 days because of an out-of-state match he had the day after we'd spent the weekend together and I'd left for the wedding that night. I had considered asking him to join me at the wedding as my date, but he had a match that day and I had used that to chicken out of it.

My phone buzzed on the table and I looked down to see a message from Reece, making my heart jump for a second.

How's everything going, stranger? Hope you haven't strangled anyone yet.

I grinned at his text. He knew about the way mom's family treats us and he had jokingly taught me self-defence moves - palm up nose, kneed in the balls, etc. - in case I needed them for the wedding. I remember laughing throughout that evening, more than I had in a long time.

Not yet, but I'm damn close. I'm keeping the moves you taught me in mind and have mentally pictured executing them way too many times.

That's my girl, I'm glad you atleast remember them.

I blushed at his text.

I can't forget your lessons ever are you kidding? They were golden. Also, I know I congratulated you on yesterday's win but I didn't ask you how you were feeling. I'm sure you must be exhausted

A little but nothing a hot tub soak can't fix.

The text made me roll my eyes but still feel a little flushed. It made me want to be a bit courageous.

How I wish I could join you...

I saw the typing bubble pop up and disappear again a few times before my phone suddenly started ringing in my hand. I breathed out in a huff at the caller ID.

I picked up the call, feeling nervous all of a sudden. "Hi. How are you?"

"Good, now that I've heard your voice. Though your little comment on joining me has made me feel not so fine." Reece's deep voice came across the phone, making me feel calmer but also making me miss him even more.

I giggled at his words, plopping on top of the bed and laying down on my back. "Sorry about that. We're not meeting till tomorrow night for the fundraise dinner right?"
