I sang to myself with the song playing in the background, the sound of sizzling bacon accompanying the song as well. I flipped over the pieces expertly and tried to keep an eye on the eggs at the same time.
"Roxy, we gotta leave soon!" I shouted without turning around and heard her grumbling from within my room. She stepped out with messy hair and her usual jeans and a tight top, walking blindly into the kitchen and reaching for coffee.
I pushed her around the island and made her sit on the bar stool facing the kitchen, taking pity on her and filling a cup to the brim. I placed it in front of her and she mumbled out something I couldn't understand. I rolled my eyes and smiled at her antics.
Soon the eggs were done so I platted them with bacon and toast onto two separate plates and placed it on the counter.
Roxanne yawned and widened her eyes at the big breakfast as I reached for some juice in the refrigerator.
"Oh, fuck." She moaned as she bit into the eggs and I had to roll my eyes at her again. "I don't know what I'd do without you."
"I don't either." I deadpanned and smiled innocently as she frowned at me.
"You know," she paused, and I could already tell what she was going to say. "We don't have to go today, it's perfectly okay to -"
"Absolutely not," I frowned as I bit into my toast. "It's been two days, I'm sure everyone forgot already, and I can't hide away forever."
She grumbled and went back to eating.
We finished quickly and picked up our bags to leave. "Oh," Roxy tilted her head and studied my outfit. "Love what you're wearing today. Needed the confidence boost, eh?" she waggled her eyebrows up and down like the idiot she was.
I grinned back at her and looked down at the short jean skirt and light blue deep v-neck blouse I had decided on today. It was a hot day and therefore I wore the skirt, but I guess subconsciously I did need the boost.
We stepped out and Roxy headed down the stairs as I went to close the door. I shouted at her to wait downstairs as I quickly went in and grabbed a granola bar before heading out. I turned around after closing the door and suddenly Cullen was there. I think I squeaked in surprise.
"Sorry, sorry." He hastily apologized.
"I should say sorry for that embarrassing squeak." I smiled and tried to catch my breath. I noticed that Cullen was dressed formally in pants and a white shirt with a jacket slung over his arm. I gestured to what he was wearing. "You wear this stuff to work every day?"
He closed his door as well, pushing his phone into his pocket. We both headed for the stairs.
"Nah, I've got a big meeting today and dressing formally is a must, of course."
"Of course." I grinned at the thought of a female author signing with Bloom as soon as she glimpsed at Cullen.
"What?" He asked suspiciously.
Our shoulders brushed as we turned down the stairs. "Nothing." I hid my grin.
"Oh, come on. You know how annoying that can be."
I sighed, looking up into his eyes focused on me. I had to look away quickly so as to avoid my blush being too obvious. "I was just thinking about how a female writer would just immediately sign with the company if you sat in at the meeting."
He looked confused for a second and then laughed. "Please, that wouldn't ever happen. Are you telling me you think I'm cute then?" He smirked mischievously.
