Percy and Thalia: Leaders in conflict
🍎
Snow and Silena ventured deep into the forest with their two additional members towards the left. They walked with their mind sharp and alert, keeping an eye for any flying arrows. It was quiet for a moment, but that only made their guards grow taller. Then, it wasn’t until they were heading to the clearing did a couple of Hunters start appearing.
“They’re following us,” Snow murmured quietly to Silena.
Silena nodded and they continued to walk deeper into the clearing, making sure they were as far away from Thalia as possible. Or at the very least, until it’s too late. While they went there, Snow decided to count their pursuers: five she estimated. That was a little odd, but she hoped there were more hiding even deeper or they went to where Percy was.
That thought was proven false when she heard commotion coming from behind them.
“What–”
Silena was cut off when the Hunters decided to reveal themselves. With a circle that trapped them, they released their arrows into the ground, and immediately something foul was released into the air. The gas stung their eyes and prickled their throats, making them cough profusely.
“What–what is this–?” Silena coughed.
“Some kind of choking gas,” Snow replied, coughing soon after. “Stay alert!”
The gas that the Hunters released was becoming thick, shielding Snow and Silena’s team from seeing not only their opponents, but each other.
“They’ll get us by this point.” One of their group members said.
“Should we retreat?” Another asked.
“No. We need to scatter,” Snow said. “Spread out as far as you can, till where the gas isn’t as prominent. But stick together.”
Nodding, they followed her command. Snow and Silena went as a pair. The latter was not only the oldest, but also the tallest, so she ran behind Snow into the clearing. They could hear slight ruffling of the leaves and ground, letting them know the Hunters are close on their trail.
“Aren’t they supposed to be experts? Why didn’t they mask their presence better?” Silena questioned. “They’re still not doing it now.”
“Not sure,” Snow said. “But let’s stick to the plan. Even though the ongoing noise is making me think it went awry somehow.”
“Think they found Thalia?”
“Wouldn’t put it past them,” said Snow. “But Thalia’s skilled. You should’ve seen her in battle. She can handle them, same with Percy.”
Silena nodded. They heard a sharp whiz! before finding an arrow pierced into a tree trunk. Looking back, Snow noticed that three out of the five decided to chase them. She observed as they took out another arrow and aligned it with their bow. She ripped out one ear of her earrings that changed into her signature weapon. Adjusting it at an angle, Snow looked between the Hunters and the forest. With a calculated look, she threw her weapon to the side.
To the Hunters, it looked like Snow tossed her weapon away. They chuckled, smug grins plastered on their faces. Except, it wasn’t long until they saw something shiny in the distance beside them. Suddenly, a golden blur went by and sliced all three Hunters weapons simultaneously in a clean cut.
