My band members (I'm in a band, yes) were talking about The 4th Of July (today).

Well, I offered to write a poem real quick, considering I write lyrics. So I whipped a poem up real quick:

America
---------
God bless America, let freedom ring.

Some say it is free
no place they'd rather be
liberty rings from all corners.
every house; every corridor.

But what they don't see
is what really goes on
man turns against man
Blood poured over the sand.

Shot dead or beat down.
selling sex and a covered frown.
Women fear walking down streets
Men are prejudged based on their race.
Wondering why discrimination wears a normal face.

Mothers teach their sons of sins.
Even when love should win.
As man loves man; as man loves woman.
Finally we began to understand.
Kids born in wrong bodies take their own lives
Friends who accept you can be full of lies.

Our children are starving, we fail to the poor.
If its a problem we turn away
Hope for someone else to fix it to be no more.

God help America, may freedom ring.
