Megumi thought about the new girl in their class. She was by far the most powerful sorcerer his age he'd ever met, probably even stronger than Yuta.
He wondered how a fight between her and Yuta would play out, one able to copy cursed techniques, and the other able to control cursed energy itself.
The sun had set hours ago, yet he was still sleepless.
Staring at the ceiling above his bead, which was only lit by the dim moonlight emanating from the window, he heard soft footsteps in the corridor.
He threw on a sweater over his night clothes and pulled on a pair of slippers, quietly going to check who was sleepless at this hour apart from him.
By the time he made it into the hallway, the person had gone.
So, he walked down the hallway, very carefully in order to not wake anyone.
Through the glass door that led outside, he saw the figure of a girl, black hair falling down her back.
He opened the door slowly, coming up behind the girl.
"Hi, Fushiguro." she said, her back still facing him.
"How did you know it was me-" he started asking, but as she turned to look at him, her purple eyes reminded him of her technique. "-never mind."
He came up to her. He could almost swear that her eyes glowed slightly. their purple hue showing the dark circles under her eyes.
For the first time, he appreciated how difficult it must be to maintain her technique, unable to ever fully turn it off.
"Why couldn't you sleep?" she asked, unblinking.
"Had a lot on my mind." Megumi said. "What about you?"
"I suppose the same." she muttered, more to herself than to him.
She took her gaze away from the boy, looking up at the sky.
"It's strange..." she said, not bothering to finish the sentence.
"What is?"
"Well, we're still in Tokyo, but you can see the stars."
Megumi had been looking at the girl's face, but now also looked up at the sky. And of course, you could see the stars.
They stood in a comfortable silence for a while, before Megumi broke it.
"Are you hungry?" he asked, "we could make something, if you'd like..." he rubbed the back of his neck.
Ankoku smiled, still looking at the sky.
"Sure. Let's go," she turned around, opening the glass door telekinetically.
Her power would take some getting used to, for sure. Megumi was still completely shocked whenever he saw it in action, even when Ankoku wasn't really trying.
Megumi lead the way to the kitchen, because Ankoku hadn't learned the whole layout of the school yet, today having been her first day.
"What do you want?" the ravenette asked, opening the cabinet marked with his surname, "I've got ramen, a bunch of snacks... I don't think I have anything sweet, but if you have a sweet tooth, we can go and ask Gojo. He's usually still up at this hour, working..." Megumi continued looking through his shelf.
"Ramen's fine," the girl said, coming up to him, getting bowls and cutlery.
"Let me make it," Megumi said, starting to boil some water, "I can see how tired you are"
