Today is the day. My child will be named. It is a wonderful day to be celebrating. The prince, my son, is to be named. Not that I care about all that royal stuff. I just hope that he gets a good name. I am excited to call him something other than "Precious love".
I find King, the father of the new prince.
"If he gets a name anywhere near as good as Malice, we'll be very happy." I'd be happy even if he got a name like Snuggle.
"Won't it be amazing to be able to call him something. We've waited fourteen weeks for this."
"What if it's hard? We've never raised a child before. We have to teach him everything." King sounds worried.
"King, he's not even one. We'll have plenty of time to teach him when he's older." He didn't look convinced.
"You'll be an amazing mother. He'll learn so much from you, Malice. I'm afraid I won't teach him anything." I look at him worriedly.
"Seriously. Stop worrying. You're going to make yourself sick. Today is supposed to be spent happy and relaxed. So don't worry."
"I know. I should wait to worry so much."
"Yes. You should. In fact, don't worry at all."
"Come on. It's time for the naming."
King and I walk towards the naming cave. It is simple, and not very decorated. I like the look. Even without jewels, this place is amazing. You can tell that great things happen here.
"Now it is time to name our next generation. Good luck to you all." One of the elders finishes his starting speech. I pull King up to the platform in the center, where the other parents stand.
"Come on. It'll look bad if we're late!"
"I am coming. It'll also look bad if we're rushed." I stand next to our child, who looks nervous, but also willing to stand up in front of the large mass of dragons. He'll make a wonderful prince someday.
"Today, these young dragons will become truly part of our community." The elder steps towards the pool of names. He reaches into it, and pulls out a name. He walks up to the first dragon in line. "You will be named Sundown. Bring honor to your name." The young dragon's eyes glow. He walks to the pool again, then to the next dragon in line. "You will be named Yearn." The crowd gasps. To be named one of hope is a great honor. Very few receive this name. "You will live up to this great name, and bring honor to it."
"He's next. Our dragon prince is next." I can barely contain my excitement. Maybe he'll get an amazing name like Yearn.
"And now, for the future king." He walks purposely to the pool and reaches down. He picks up an ordinary scrap of paper. It is the same tan color as all the others. Nothing seems extraordinary about it. "You, my young friend. You will be named Flame."
