The Next Day
Cloud Recesses: Jingshi
After his meeting with his uncle, Wangji let out a sigh of relief. Finally, he could spend some much-needed time with Wuxian, his soulmate.
Leaving Lanshi behind, he made his way back to Jingshi, his heart filled with anticipation and a hint of worry.
He was aware that recently Wuxian had been spending a lot of time with XiChen.
The bond between the two had grown stronger, and while Wangji was happy for them, a part of him couldn't help but feel a twinge of jealousy.
He knew how deeply Wuxian loved his brother, and he couldn't compete with that. All he wanted was for his best friend to be happy, even if it meant sacrificing his own desires.
As Wangji entered Jingshi, he was greeted by the sight of Wuxian turning to face him.
The younger man's eyes lit up with joy, and Wangji couldn't help but feel his heart skip a beat.
"Lanzhan," Wuxian called out, his voice filled with warmth and love.
"Weiying," Wangji replied, his voice filled with a mixture of relief and longing.
He pulled Wuxian into a tight embrace, cherishing the feeling of their bodies pressed against each other.
As they held each other, Wangji couldn't help but feel a pang of curiosity. He wanted to know how things had been between Wuxian and XiChen.
"How are things between you and XiChen?" he asked, his voice filled with genuine concern.
Wuxian looked up at him, his eyes filled with a mix of emotions. "We're good," he replied softly, a hint of hesitation in his voice.
"Just good?" Wangji pressed, his heart pounding in his chest.
Wuxian took a deep breath, his gaze shifting downward. "Actually, we're together now," he admitted, his voice barely above a whisper.
Wangji's heart seemed to stop for a moment, a mix of emotions flooding his senses.
He couldn't believe what he was hearing. "Really?" he managed to say, his voice filled with a mix of surprise and pain.
Wuxian nodded, his eyes filled with sadness. "He's everything I've ever wanted, Wangji. He's shown me a different kind of love, a different kind of happiness. And I realized that thanks to you," he confessed, his voice filled with gratitude.
Wangji felt his heart shatter into a million pieces. He had waited too long, and hesitated for too many years.
In that moment, Wangji realized that he had lost the love of his life. Wangji felt his world crumbling around him as Wuxian's words sank in.
"How about me then?" Wangji's voice trembled with a mix of vulnerability and pain. He looked into Wuxian's eyes, searching for a glimmer of hesitation, a sign that perhaps their connection was not completely lost.
Wuxian's gaze wavered for a moment, his expression softening as he closed the distance between them.
With unwavering sincerity, he spoke words that held the power to heal and mend.
"You are my soulmate, my other half, A-zhan. Don't think any less," Wuxian's voice carried a depth of conviction and love. His words were a lifeline, assuring Wangji that their bond was unbreakable.
Wangji couldn't help but chuckle, a soft sound that echoed through the room, resonating with the warmth of his soulmate's presence.
"It's not that easy," Wangji replied, his voice carrying a gentle melody of tenderness and longing. His eyes met Wuxian's, a golden gaze locking with unwavering devotion.
