Third Person POV
The atmosphere hummed with excitement as guests mingled and laughter filled the air, creating a joyous ambiance in honor of the beloved princes of Gusu Lan Clan.
In the lively atmosphere of Lutos Pier, the throuple's twin children, Yuan and Jingyi, joyfully played with the Jiang disciples who were their age.
Laughter and excitement filled the air, creating an ambiance of innocent bliss.
Amidst the camaraderie, Yanli appeared before the children, her expression warm and friendly. She approached them gently, interrupting their playfulness.
"Sorry for the disturbances.. A-Yuan, A-Yi, come," she called out, her voice sweet and inviting. "I have a surprise for both of you."
Yuan and Jingyi exchanged hesitant glances, their intuition flickering with caution.
They held a silent conversation, their bond as twins allowing them to convey their concerns without words.
"A-die said we shouldn't go with her," Jingyi whispered quietly, his voice barely audible above the clamor of the festivities.
Yuan nodded in agreement, memories of their fathers' warnings echoing in their minds.
They had been taught to trust their instincts and not to easily place their trust in others.
However, Yanli, ever persuasive, smiled reassuringly and addressed their apprehension.
"Don't worry, your parents have given me permission," she stated, her tone convincing and filled with warmth.
Seeing their acceptance, Yanli's smile stretched wider, her resolve masked in an affectionate facade. She reached out, taking each child's hand, leading them away from the bustling revelry and into the unknown.
Meanwhile, in Wangji and XiChen's hearts, an unexplainable restlessness gnawed at their souls.
An unacknowledged sense of unease lingered, a whisper of uncertainty that they dared not voice.
They exchanged furtive glances, silently questioning the path they had chosen, their love for Wuxian and their desire to protect his happiness outweighing their instincts.
As the joyous festivities began to wind down, the twin Jades anticipation turned to anxiety as the minutes stretched into an agonizing hour.
The absence of their children's laughter cast a haunting shadow over the celebrations.
XiChen and Wangji, their hearts heavy with unspoken fears, exchanged a knowing glance, their worry etched upon their faces.
The weight of unspoken fears hung heavily in the air, suffocating their hearts.
Gathering his resolve, Wangji clenched his fist, his voice laced with determination as he addressed his brother.
"Xiongzhang, please take care of Weiying. Go fetch him..Inform him that we must leave this place as soon as I return with A-yuan and A-yi," Wangji stated firmly, urgency stemming from the depths of his being.
Without further delay, he swiftly set off, his footsteps carrying him with a sense of purpose.
Meanwhile, XiChen's gaze scanned the vicinity until his eyes settled upon Wuxian, engrossed in conversation with the disciples of the Jiang clan.
Moving towards his beloved, he wrapped his strong arms around Wuxian's delicate waist, attempting to shield him from the growing storm of worry and fear lingering within his own heart.
A loving smile briefly flickered on Wuxian's lips as he glanced at his husband, unaware of the turmoil beneath the surface.
As they stepped away from the prying eyes of others, finding solace within the ancestral hall, Wuxian's smile faltered upon noticing the uneasy expression that marred XiChen's face.
Concern etched his features as he sought the cause of his husband's distress, his voice brimming with anxious anticipation.
"What's wrong, A-huan?" Wuxian gently inquired, his concern evident in his eyes and tone.
XiChen shook his head, his grip on Wuxian tightening as he struggled to find the right words.
He didn't want to burden the younger with the knowledge that their children might be in danger, not yet.
He hoped that Wangji would find the twins swiftly and bring them back to safety.
But Wuxian's words tugged at his heart, the younger longing for their children evident in his voice.
"A-Huan, I miss our babies. Can we go get them now, please?" Wuxian expressed, his eyes filled with a mix of love and concern.
XiChen pulled away from the hug, his gaze fixed on Wuxian's face. He struggled to find the right words, wanting to reassure her without revealing the truth.
"Wangji is already taking care of it. They will be here with us before you know it," he reassured, a smile masking the turmoil within.
Wuxian smiled, his worries momentarily eased. But he sensed that something was still bothering XiChen.
He reached out and gently touched the taller's cheek. "I can tell there's something on your mind. Please, tell me," he urged, his voice filled with love and concern.
XiChen hesitated, his heart torn between protecting Wuxian and being honest with him. Finally, he came up with a partial truth.
XiChen let out a soft chuckle and leaned down, placing a gentle kiss on Wuxian's lips.
"It's nothing, Love. Wangji and I just felt a bit left out," he came up with a reason, partially true, to divert his attention.
Wuxian furrowed his brow in confusion. "Why would you feel left out?" he asked, slightly perplexed.
"You were so engrossed in talking to the guests and disciples that you seemed to have forgotten about us," XiChen replied, his voice tinged with a hint of playfulness.
Wuxian shook his head in disbelief. "I'm sorry, my love. I just missed this town and the opportunity to communicate with other people. You and A-zhan strictly forbade me from returning to Lutos Pier after I gave birth to our little stars, after all," he retorted, his tone laced with a hint of sarcasm.
XiChen chuckled and leaned down, pecking Wuxian on the lips once more. "We were just worried, Love. Now that we have learned about Jin Guangyao's return, we fear for your safety and the safety of our children. And please, don't say that he may have changed. I still don't trust him. He is cunning and deceiving," XiChen stated firmly, his voice filled with determination.
Wuxian bit his lower lip, his expression conflicted. "If you say so..." he murmured, his voice filled with uncertainty.
"Can't we just follow A-zhan, please?" he pleaded, his eyes searching XiChen's face for reassurance.
XiChen's worry resurfaced, his voice filled with a mix of caution and determination.
"Something is wrong. If not, they should have already arrived by now," Wuxian stated seriously, his worry evident in his voice.
